LOL Altiman, I hope you have fun with the army, and rangers do lead the way, because they earn it. But prepare for ranger school. If you can go on for 2 weeks with about 1-2, maybe 3 hours of sleep per day with hard physical training, then you're good. If not, well.....

I live with my girl. Just landed a decent job that will pay 85% of my tuition. Starting salary is fairly decent so now I dont have to wait till each summer comes around to make some cash. Finally finish my turbo setup. :)

yah, politics aside, the military aint for everyone.

I live at home for now, still in HS, but I pay my own way for hte most part. Bought my first car(240, has since died), bought my second car(plymouth laser rsx, sold it.. those Diamond stars are unreliable as hell), bought my third car(nice reliable dialy driver, 93 civic ex coupe :) ), and currently Im waiting for the shipping company to get me my fourth car(240sx s13 coupe :) ) I have plans to move out soon after graduation, make it on my own. it can be done, espeacially if you dont have a family. 20k a year, for example, aint so bad for single person. But I sacrifice a lot to get what I get, I work 2 jobs, 40+ hours a week, and go to school. So .. unless mommy and daddy are feeding you with a silver spoon, a job at the local ice cream shop wont get you an sr20 anytime soon ;)

that depends on where you live. i made it my own way through highschool and what college i decided to show up for, but that was in mississippi. i would have trouble here in cali.

no politics. the military is an easy way to make money....they need people like us and people like us need to not worry about money so we can focus on getting to where we wanna be in life.

hell a free education isnt too bad either, i dont wanna sound like a recruiter or anything but if i added up how much it cost for my food, housing, utilities, and various other expenses im making like 30000 a year. i dun have to pay any of that so im happy as a pig in shyte with my 11 or so grand a year. expecially since most of that is going to my car or starting my stable of cars.

silver spoon feeding happens more often on the honda boards not so much here, dont get me wrong it does happen, just not so often. and please this tread was not meant to encite an argument, using lines like that. someone could be offended ruining a perfectly legit thread

But seriously I live with my GF and go to school as well as do work study. Gotta love that GI bill though. If you got some kind of financial plan and save it's not that hard.

i live at home, but will soon move out when i find an apartment clsoe to school. i dont have a job right now, and my folks didnt want me to get one during the school year. i sell stuff, and make money by doing odd jobs in my free time. i also get money from scholarships. my tuition is paid for and the only thing we pay for is lab fees, books food and gas...but the scholarships help with most of that. my folks are paying for my stuff right now, and i love them very much for it. i try not the ask for stuff, or ask them for money, etc beucase they're already payin for me. when i need stuff done to the car, my dad either offers to pay for it, or i do. i paid for most of my stuff over the break, and i almost went broke. its not too bad though. my gf said her step dad who works with a construction company could get me a job over the summer helping with paint and litle things. she said it pays pretty well, and i go in around 8am, get off around 3pm. not too shabby.

I am legally an orphan (adopted by geandma nd grandpa, both are deceased) so the gov't pays for my college. I also manage a coffee shop, so I make decent bank. The house I live in is owned by my roommate's father (like family to me) so no rent, just bills. Phat house too. 2 21 year old living in a $150k house in college sure feels baller;)

So yeah, I have spent about $4500 since September on my car (including purchase) and I am still independent. Bout to get even pricier as CA power is JUST around the corner...

In responce to the whole military thing, I just wanna say that I have been home a total of 3 weeks the last eight months, That is where my car is. And about 2 of thosw three weeks were spent doing an sr swap...I miss my car, oh well, at least I'm not putting alot of miles on it.Seriously, if you don't mind being away from your comfort zone and want to learn alot about alot of stuff, the army isn't a bad deal. What an even better deal is, is going to school ROTC style and then getting a commision as an officer. It's the best of both worlds, plus it gives you a degree to fall back on after the military. Other than that, I'd just save my money. Right now, I'm trying to put 1k in every 6 months. I also plan out how much spending money and how much savings money I have each month, If I have any money left over at the end of each month from spending, then I usually put that with the car money. I mean I know it sounds corny, but really you've just got to have a spending plan and then spending a **** load of money on your car really isn't as burdening as you think. My 2 cents Scott

Going on 5 years with the Army. can't complain too much, sent me to Japan for three years and now in D.C. only complaint i have (and it's NOT justified ;-)) is paying for my wifes opai's. about $300 a month and a total of $10,000 in three years so little left over for cars at the end of the month.

make about 20,000 a year. yeah it sucks but don't directly pay for a house, water, or electric. only the cable and phone (**** verizon, sorry) and food.

been married for a year in april to aya (met her in japan, guess i fit the stereotype haha) and have a 8 month old beagle named hachiroku.

just making enough now to send all of my parts from japan, the ones from the car in the sig. car should be completed with in the next year and a half.

my story. lates

flip down license plates, rocket tubes coming out of the doors. hell yeah, we'll be the best drift/road race/autox/drag race crew out there, why? cause we'll destroy all the others.
