I have a Honda CRV 2001 and because of commuting, I have been thinking a lot about changing it to a Versa Hatchback. Can anyone give me mileage information, tips in general, comparisions (other than the obvious size, confort, stuff) and/or recomendations? My main concern is: will what I will save on gas be enough to cover the price difference on the payments (I currently pay 210 canadian dollars per month on my CRV)?

Sorry if the topic was already posted before. I am in need of some info and I am completelly clueless.

Thanks in advance.

You won't gain very much on mileage compared to your CRV. Maybe 2-3mpg in the city, and very little difference on the freeway. The biggest advantage is that it's overall a less expensive car, and you won't give up a lot in cargo and interior space compared to your CRV. You won't save more than $10 at most in gas, unless your CRV is in a poor state of tune or extremely high miles.

I'd sit down and figure out your total cost of ownership. Factor in depreciation (higher on a new car, and Hondas hold their value well, Nissans are average), insurance, fuel, maintenance (should be comparable, but slightly more for a '01 since it's 6 years old).
