My Millenia is the biggest piece of garbage ever...EVER! $2000 worth of work this year and yesterday the engine decides to start making a horrible metallic noise at any speed under 2k RPM. I am done with it! I don't care if I still owe money on it or not...I am trading it before the money pit swallows me whole.

I am looking at a 2000 Frontier SE-V6 4x4 King Cab. If I get my asking price for the Mazda then the deal will be sealed.

Wish me luck!

PS: Millenias are the worst cars ever built...stay away!

Good luck on the truck deal. 99-2000 were the best years of the D22 IMO. They still had the good looking front clip in them.

I agree, looks like an evolution of the D21 front clip. The truck is beautiful in the pictures I have seen. the salesman was nice and talkative on the phone too. Crossing my fingers.

The gas mileage is gonna be worse than the Millennia. I'm glad to hear some feedback about that car. Maybe if I ever find one for a "bargain" price, I'll know better than to just scoop it up.

Truck was a bust...more like RUST! The driver side leaf pack was held together with hose clamps for crying out loud.

Hey Rev sorry to hear about the Mazda, too bad the Frontier was a rust bucket. Are the Frontier's prone to rust or just the ones where salt is used on the roads?

My next DD will be a early Frontier if I can find a nice enough one. You might want to look a few hours south for a truck without rust.GL

All of the Nissan trucks seem to be rust prone in the snow belt due to the salt. They tend to hold up very nicely in our neck of the woods.

Love the avatar... Go Cocks! Wait for next year, and I really mean it this time!

Checking out a 99 XE-V6 this morning. Allegedly it has 33k original miles, tonneau cover, 5spd and was a one owner. The price is high but I am bringing my KBB print out to fight the price back in line.

It was a crying shame that SE-V6 was in the shape it was in. Whoever the mechanic was who serviced that truck ought to be taken out back and shot, worst work I have seen in a long time.

I have to get something this week because the noise coming from the Mazda is getting worse and I am not going to fix it.

yeah my dad's is getting some service done this week... the driveshaft apparently isn't balanced properly which caused the carrier bearing to go out... when the new carrier bearing went in the drivshaft vibration was very noticeable... so that's getting done

other than that it jsut needs a clutch.... 180,000 miles and its still holding pretty strong but i don't trust it (my mom likes to tear it up on occasion with her vagina driver skills )

99 XE-V6 wayyyyy over priced for what it is. I tried to haggle but they wouldn't move. Also tried a 2001 SE-V6 that was sweet...sales guy was asking 2k more than what it was actually worth. No purchase. I am thinking I might just find a cheap HB to drive and once again taking the Mazda off the road to part out.

I am checking out a 96 2wd HB that isn't perfect but is going for $1200. The owner says it has 133k miles. It needs a windshield, one torsion bar re-indexed and the fuel pump sending unit replaced, also mentioned the IACV may need replacing, I am going to scan it for codes to confirm. The rest of the truck is good he says.

What do you guys think?

NEW UPDATE:

I just made a verbal purchase of that 96 2wd. I talked him down from $1200 to $800. After listing out everything I found it needed so far the total price including the truck comes to $1300, once again that's truck and parts. Labor will be performed myself except for the windshield which I am not qualified to do.

It's a 96 w/ 138k, 5spd, working AC...It needs an IACV valve, front O2 sensor, windshield, tie rods and centerlink, fuel sending unit and belts. It has new tires, new brakes, one new torsion bar (more about that in a minute) and new shocks. The interior is clean. The radio is shot but I have one sitting in my toolbox that'll fit. Regarding the torsion bar, the mechanic who installed it indexed it wrong so it's at the end of it's adjustment. It has some rust but the frame is clean, it's a little ugly in the front but I have a lot of parts to fix it up enough to drive it. And I now have a use for my extra set of bucket seats! It'll be like driving my green truck all year round.

I am putting the down payment tomorrow night and cutting a check for the rest. My bank said rough trade-in value comes in at over $2000, I stole it at $800 needing a little work.

How'd I do?

http://rochester.craigslist.or....html

Now for an ironic story, I purchased a bunch of 720 parts from the same guy 10 years ago when I still owned my Dat 720.

Sounds like you got yourself a sweet deal. I'd suggest you take a friend with you (that knows cars) when you go to make the down payment. Have them do a once over of the truck before you hand over any money or sign anything. Sometimes it's good to have another set of eyes check it out. Just my .I hope it works out for you. Those trucks will last forever with some basic maintenance.

Bex, I'm an Ex-Nissan Tech. I looked it over pretty good before I beat the guy up.

Where about are you located? Have you tried checking http://www.car-part.com? That's where I'd start.

On a side note, a bump from the real past. That 96 HB lasted me over 30k when it was finally overcome by rust.

Yep, it was a great truck the entire time. Many quirks but always reliable.
