I am trying to get all the gauges set for the install and could use a little direction. Anyone know of any online sources for help with the wiring? Whatever help you could give is appreciated

The sticky thread is about wiring up the ENGINE, not the gauges, but I suppose you knew that, right? I am looking for maybe wiring diagram for the R33 GTS-T so I can integrate the S13 harness and the RB harness. Anyone out there can help me with wire colors or the like?

Thanks for the help Redline. Your insight and vast knowledge has enlightened me. Anyone else out there feel like helping instead of hating because they are jealous? I am just looking for a helping hand, nothing else.

Jealous? why? I don't want a RB25, and i wouldn't want a S13, i much rather my S14...but anyway...i don't know if anyone on this board has used the skyline gauges with their swap, and if they did i don't think they mentioned it. And having a manual is a must, especially when you can't ask someone at a parts store or a shop about it...

For the gauges I think someone on here said that if you look at the back of the cluster there is writing/letters or some kind of marking as to what all the wires are for. I think he said he just marked down what all the differnet color wires where for and then intergrated the R33 cluster plugs into the S13 harness. May what to check into that. If the R33 cluster tells you what all the wires on the back are for then you will be set.

Jon -- Are you using the 240SX gauge cluster or the Skyline Cluster?

If you are keeping the 240SX Cluster....I *think* the tach will read 1/2 of the real value. The OEM tach relies on TWO pulses per revolution (signal from the distributor). The Skyline Tach using a signal from the ECCS... so only one pulse per revolution.

Speedometer is also different on the pulses. Typically the USA standard is "8,000 pulses per mile" I suspect the JDM uses a different number, so the speedometer doesn't read correctly.

Some folks use the Skyline cluster... I've heard of "adapters" for keeping the 240SX instruments, but no desciption of the signals.

I've ordered the R32 manuals from Australia, btw. Back ordered... who knows when I'll ever see them. :( No the manuals will NOT give the timing spec, but makes other things easier to figure out.

I would like to use the Skyline cluster as it has all the correct gauges plus the boost gauge is there. I am trying to trace all the wires now but I am having a little difficulty. The back of the cluster is 1/2 English, 1/2 Japanese. Everything appears to be labeled though.

I did the RB20 swap and I have the R32 cluster in my car. Just look on the back of the cluster and it SHOULD have every wire labeled on the board. Mine did atleast. Then find out what they are on the 240, which I have typed out already for an 89-90, and then match them up. it's quite simple.

We have a electronic box to fix the speedo so the 240 one will work, the tack is in work should be done by June.. so you can keep all the 240 cluster..

When I did the wiring in my rb20 to s13 conversion, I used both pin out diagrams for my old engine and the rb20 and mated the engine wiring loom to the silvia engine bay wiring loom. As far as the instruments, I retained the silvia cluster and connected the gauges I wanted except I haven't yet connected the speedo as the rb20 gearbox is a mechanical drive where as the silvia cluster is electrical. Anyone got any ideas?

I heard somwhere that the speed sonsor from the KA works, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Does anyone know if the speed sensor bolts onto the rb20 gearbox?

My RB25 Manual trans is also mechanical drive, but the gauges are electric as the origional; trans was an automatic. I tried the speed sensor from the auto but it is too big to fit in the trans, I think I was given an older version of the trans. I was going to try to find out the year of my trans and see if I could find a sensor for it. I am going to be speedoless also. I got everything else wired up though. Anyone know if the KA fuel level sensor is truly compatible with the RB gauges because my gauge says 1/2 a tank but I ran out yesterday wile I had it idling trying to get the electric fan working.

Would have been nice for "RK" to tell me that up front so I didn't waste alot of time....Oh well. Hey Night, you know where I can get a Fuel pressure regulator since the one that came with the motor was broken off in the fuel rail???

Jon, you may want to look at a bit of compo for the box (providing you paid for a R33 box)the R33 box is ALOT (and I mean ****loads!) stronger than the R32 and also worth about 3-4times as much (over here anyway) the internals are basically GTR/Z32. Case is visually alot bigger ont he R33 also. How did you get on with the dash wiring using std clutser?

Well according to the advertisement I was getting a manual trans, it didnt state what trans I was getting. as for the dash wiring I did ok, I transfered all the wiring fromthe original harness and spliced it into the RB cluster. I got everything working except the speedo. I just transferred the speed sensor to the RB trans and I will work on getting it wired up when I get the new head I will try it.
