wiring turn signals to stay on like parking lamps

I'm trying to wire up my turn signals to stay on like parking lamps and I'm using a diode between my corner lights power line and the power line of the turn signal. I can get the turn signals and the corner lights to stay on but when I use the blinkers they don't work. I'm wondering if I have the right diode?
