What are some ways that you guys have wired your cars? What type of wires are best to use for the MAFS? What type of connectors? Electric Tape? etc.

I am having idling issues, where If I rev the car and let go of gear at like 3k+ rpm, it sometimes stahls and dies. Even at idle, if I just rev it high and let it drop, it'll drop and stahl, but it'll catch itself. If the car is just at idle, it seems fine though. I'm thinking maybe it's my MAFS wiring. Oh yeah, the the brown wire(For the o2 sensor, I think) by the battery that is suppose to go the 12V, where are some locations that you guys have hooked it up to? I think I just hooked mine up to the KA's brown wire by that location. My car also has a strong gas smell, like gas isn't burning right. Maybe this is the reason??

Any information?

i used the wire from my ka harness to lengthen the sr harness. wit butt connectors and elec tape over those, i just wrapped all 3 wires together. u running a bov? do u have any hesitation when u floor it?

Yeah, I'm running an HKS BOV. The guy who did my pipes put the BOV right on the turbo up-pipe that goes to the hot-pipe. Can this be the reason? I was thinking it might be because of the BOV too. I don't see much hesitation when I floor it. Maybe I should adjust the screw on the BOV down more?

I was thinking it might be something with my MAFS wiring because two of the wires are suppose to be shielded (I think), but mine aren't. I'm just using some standard wires.

Quicksilvia, Where did you plug your brown wire by the battery to?

I am not sure what the brown wire off the KA harness is, but wire it to the main ignition wiring. So you will have a big black with red stripe wire, big blue with red stripe wire, and the brown O2 power wire being spliced together. Then they will be connected to the big KA black with red stripe wire.

BOV's can cause stumbling, no mystery there. Shielding the wires would be helpful, I cant remember what the gauge is but they should all have 7 little copper wires in each wire. One is the signal, one is a ground, and one is a ground that runs to the ECU. If you can rev the car over 3000 RPM's then the MAFS is not your main issue. Whenever the MAFS circuit is bad the ECu runs in fail safe and will not rev over 2500 RPM's.

Cool, I will run that brown wire to those bunch of wires to see if that helps anything. With all of my wiring by the battery and by the ECU, I'm just using some crimp connectors with electric tape over them. Is that alright?

I can rev the car all the way without any problems. Now that I've read many threads on BOV's I think this is probably the reason for my stahling and car dying on the release of gas. Maybe I'll close my BOV some more to see if that'll help a little. Other than that, any ideas?

I soldered all conections and heat shrinked. Then ran it all in wire loom.

Just recirculate the bov man. phase2 sells an adapter for it

I was thinking about soldering my connections, but I don't have the tool to do so. I Plugged up the brown wire with the other wires that SpeedRacer1 suggested last night. I haven't drove it yet to see if it makes any difference though.

Do they sell recirculate kits for the HKS SSQV BOV?

dont recirc! if u just got ur sr running then enjoy the bov for a bit, you'll see. a soldering iron costs nothing too, go to radio shack and get the iron and the solder for like 20 bucks

Yeah, I think I won't recirc it unless I really need to. I've had the car running before, but my old motor went bad, so I bought a new one. It's always been dying when I let go of gas though. Maybe I'll just tighten the screw for now. I don't really push more than stock boost anyway. I would like to get an Apexi AFC, but can't afford it yet. Maybe once I get it, it'll help me out.

Solder is probably alot better, but for now, I guess it's okay because it works. Only issues I'm having with this new motor is the above issue, and the motor makes loud ticking noises. That's on another thread though.

Oh yeah, one easy question. Which wire on the o2 sensor is the signal wire?

White wire, pin #19.

I never was a fan of BOV's for daily driving. I even have an SAFC but a recirc is still so much more comfortable for daily driving.

Cool, so that's the white wire off of the actual o2 sensor or pin 19 off of the ECU right?I'll have to wait and see what I want to do about the BOV.
