ok. i have a 1972 datsun 510. i have a ca18det, with complete wiring harness, uncut, and stock ecu. who wants to tell me how to put it together?

all the sr20/510 guys seem to be anal and secretive, but from what i gathered they kinda left the 2 harnesses seperate from each other kinda liket he engine harness/oem ecu was a stand alone. i have never done wiring like this before, but i have gotten everything else done so id like to give this a try. thanks all, and thanks dee aka boost boy, cause i have a feeling youll be answering this.

Do you have teh ca18det manual?if not catch me on msn, I will uploaded it to and this will make lots of sense to you when you see the diagrams.The file is about 36MB so, it will take about 30mins to 1hr, depending on your connection.Also, which plugs are they giving you had time, do you have pics?my msn is [email protected]

get the ecu wiring for the ca and the wiring for the stock 510 nd match what goes together... and pretty much pray

To make this evolution go down glitch-free, you're going to need to at least be able to view the DET's wiring diagram from the FSM. I personally have never even seen the FSM because I'm heavily reliant upon my experience with nissan wiring and it's color codes. I even wired an S15 motor to an S13 without any references, but nissan got stupid and cheap with the S14 and S15 series. Key wires of interest: black with red stripe, black with white stripe. These wires are a starting point and you will read more about them if pulsar gtr hooks you up with the FSM. Recently I wired a 95 KA24DE in a 67 Datsun roadster (that was fun), but it's just to let you know it can be done. I'm here if you need my assistance.

just get some friends over, have a few cases of beer and have at it. if something isnt going well keep incrementing brute force and stupidity in equal amounts and in the end youve got a 50/50 chance that the car will either run like a swiss watch or will be completely destroyed. worth it in my opinion!!

since my car doesnt have a large H or A on the hood, they arent much help. that keep asking where the vtec solenoid is.

Are you a member of the DimeQuarterly mailing list? I know some of the guys there have a superior atitude--but several have done SR and CA swaps into their dimes.

One is Kevin Neely --When I was thinking of an SR20 into the 510--he answered many questions for me ( ended up selling the 510 and buying an S13--but that is another story)Here is Kevins swap page http://speedyzx.com/Project510/Dime.html

He mentions Ralph Kenyon in Calif did the wiring--but maybe they will at least walk you through it.

yeah im on dimequarterly. i havent talked to anyone else with a ca 510 though, just sr's. actually one guy sent me pics of one he was selling but wouldnt answer any of my questions after that.

I have sold off most of my 510 stuff --except for an L20 B with a bunch of parts--and a Z car transmission.

Wouldn't the wiring be similar with either the SR20 or the CA18?
