Hey all,

We've been making the pre-made SR and RB conversion harnesses that plug into the 240sx now for a few months. They are working out great. However, every week, we get calls about the KA harness production.

I wanted to see if there is much interest in Brand New/OEM quality units, made to our specs.
The harness will most likely retail a little higher than the SR (the KA harness is more complicated and has more connectors and longer wiring) - around $325 or so for the engine harness.

What do you guys think?

It's a brand new harness. Chances are you're not the first owner of your 240, and your wiring harness is more than likely showing signs of age. I know I'm missing a few connectors, things are spliced together instead of having their normal clips, etc.

Basically if you have a hacked up harness and want to start fresh, Wiring Specialties would have a brand new harness for you at a fraction of OEM cost.

I should be getting paid for this advertising

Hey Chris, thanks for the explanation. Hope the contest goes well for ya :).

The idea is exactly what Chris explained. Most of the S13 KA harnesses are nearing 20 years in service. I can tell you from experience, the insulation and the wiring is corroded and brittle. Performance can easily be improved by going to a new harness. Thats the idea. No tuck, just OEM replacement.

We get calls from people every week wanting to replace their OEM harnesses, so I wanted to see if there was much interest.

Its a good idea, when you consider that Nissan parts wearhouses are not going to have harnesses forever. If you have bought a modified 240, to which most of them are by now, you never ever know what you have until you go looking around at what you've got. The previous owner of my car did a manual swap, and installed an S14 tranny. What started this was one of my friends telling me my reverse lights didn't work. Only through looking at FSM's for both S13 and S14 did I discover these things. I also discovered that the lower engine harness was ALL taken apart and hacked up, and ordered a new one, only to have to re-pin one connector and use only half the harness to get my reverse lights back. Having a new wiring harness is one serious piece of mind.

this is a great idea, especially when a used harness goes for $150 on ebay and you don't know if its in any better condition than the one you got

Thanks guys. It does make sense to replace the old harness. We'll get rolling with the dohc later this year.

We'll keep everyone posted.

I'd Enjoy a new SOHC ka Harness or two.

Just noticed that FRsport sells them, but I don't see why you couldn't make them too.

FR Sport only sells the transmission harnesses. Both the SOHC and the DOHC S13 harnesses have been discountinued from nissan and no longer available.

We'll make a few sets later this year.

Thanks
Yury

Couple of friends might want new harnesses as well.

You're right about it only being part of the harness.

Thanks for doing what you do, yury. :bigthumb:

Sorry, we shelved the KA project in favor a few new idea. We had a very weak response for the s13 KA harnesses, so decided not to do it for now.

i can respect that. You gotta do what you gotta do. But I'm pretty sure if you made it , people would buy it. If there was a link on you're website that said something or other about making or developing a KA replacement harness and you monitered the hits , it would probably get alot of hits. I'm just saying. thank anyways. TO THE JUNKYARD ROBIN!!!!

how much would a one-off ("custom") brand new replacement KA24DE harness cost from you guys? Is that even an option? I don't wanna take the risk of buying a used one with the same problem. thanks.

"if you build it they will come" some people might not flat out say they want a new harness but i'm sure most people would rather start fresh if its availble rather than go through the headache of trying to work with a hacked up harness...

AKA I WOULD BY AN S14 KA24DE HARNESS :)

These are still being very heavily considered for large production.
