Where would you want to put them? I don't have a Versa (yet) but according to Crutchfield, the maximum size speakers in the factory openings is 6 3/4", I'm assuming rounds. If you want to put in anything larger, you'll need to do some cutting. Depending on the speaker location, you might even have to cut part of the frame, though without a car to look at I couldn't tell for sure. It's possible, but not generally advisable. Best just to buy good speakers that will fit the existing hole IMHO.

6 1/2" speakers all the way around, and 6x9's do not give out as much umph as 6 1/2's do, so why bother?

There would be no proper way to wire them up. Unless you are adding an amp. If you are hooking them up to your stock radio, or even an aftermarket radio, either A) its going to drop the ohm load to 2 ohms, and radios cant handle that, Or B) your going to raise it to 8 ohms, and almost no power is going to make it to the speakers.

The only way to properly add the speakers, would be to add an amp. OR disconnect your rear door speakers, and use those wires to the 6x9s. But even then, if you have a stock radio, it wont be enough power to make 6x9s sound any better.

Actually, a good 6x9 can out "umph" a 6.5" round one. It's got more cone area. There are some excellent English-designed and Danish-designed 6x9, but they're not intended for automotive use. Generally speaking, you can find higher quality automotive speakers in the 6.5" size because the size is far more popular among the auto manufacturers. But there are some crappy 6.5" speakers out there that are surpassed by the best 6x9.

That said, the parcel tray is a lousy place for speakers. The front and back pressure waves are not adequately isolated from each other and it'll sound like crap. Unless the speakers have their own enclosures.

If you're determined to do this, disconnect the rear door speakers and splice in to the wiring harness (some where before the speaker wires run through the door jam.) That should get music through you 6x9s.
