i got my enthalpy tune yesterday and installed it into my car.. i have tried messing with the MAF settings to change on my SAFC and it does not seem to work .. car will only rev to 2400.. this is with the maf plugged in and unplugged. I've even unplugged my SAFC from the harness that connects to the ECu and i'm still having this problem..help anyone ? its frustrating me and really making me just wanna give up and sell it m cause im getting fed up.. any help would be appreciated

Have you tried checking your TPS? Or tried reseting the ECU?

Is this New from enthalpy or used?

What are your SAFC settings?

Throw down everything you have installed. We don't know what you're trying to do, let alone with what components.

Z32 MAF? If so, put your SAFC at 2 IN, and 2 OUT. Since the ECU should be tuned for it if you told Scott to do it that way.

If not, disconnect the SAFC, and remove that variable.

I have no idea. Started drinking, so I'm about to be worthless..

LOL , sorry for not giving a lil more info.... here is my setup

IAP turbo kit stage 1 setupdeatschwerks 555's3" all the way .. besides the 2.5 outlet piping from turboz32 mafenthalpy tuneSAFC 2

well basically i went and reset the ecu jsut now and got nothing outta it.. car still wont rev past 2400.. i got the tune from scott yesterday and ive tried the 2in and 2out setting that i was told to do and the car doesnt even hold an idle.. i put it on 1in and 0out and the car will idle but as soon as i step on the gas it just dies out.. funny thing was right before i installed my new ecu my car would rev all the way to redline with no problems and it was actually on a 3in and 1out setting for the HW and that was the ONLY setting that would actually let me take it to redline.. let alone 3k rpm... so i dont think its a bad maf sensor.. what i'm curious about is what is this variable your talking about that i need to remove. as far as giving scott all the info i did provide him with all my components.. ....... so yeah *shakes head* i dunno

By variable he means the SAFC can be eliminated if removed therefore having one less variable in the equation that could be messed up.

As I understand it, you had Scott burn a tune that is set for the N62 MAF, your injectors and turbo? The SAFC was already in the car and running prior to the ecu swap. However, you had to use different settings then anyone running the safc that has it installed in a Nissan.

To me the first course of action would be remove the SAFC ALL the way. Re splice the wires like they were before you installed the SAFC and allow the ecu to do it's job.

I know that's a PITA...but it's what I would do.

Try this before removing it though, go to the screen that shows the voltages and rpm readings etc. Look at what the MAF output voltage is while the car is off but in acc mode, then while it's idling. Post those numbers when you're done, should help identify a bad maf.

Let me get this straight.

You said you have 555cc injectors, and before you put in the tuned ecu, the car ran just fine with the stock ecu and the SAFC.

That means that more then likely the safc is tuned to control 555cc injectors on stock ECU.

So after you put in the tuned ECU that already has it programed to control the huge injectors, did you reset the setting on the safc not to take any fuel away since the ecu already knows to do that.

Cause if you didn't then your pretty much having the SAFC taking all the fuel away from the car lol..

i've already turned everything down to zero on the safc before i installed the tuned ecu

I agree with WD take out the SAFC. and let the ECU take control and see if it will idle and rev up.

If it dose I would put the SAFC back with a cofiguration that works and that other people are useing.

As said before, the variable I was speaking of is the SAFC. Just take it out. Put everything back to normal. Splice the two MAF wires back together, and just get rid of it.Actually, all you have to un-do, is the wires that are interrupted by the SAFC. Just cut those, and splice back together. Everything else could stay the same, I think.

can't i just unplug the harness on the SAFC that is attached to the ecu ? or do i actually have to cut the wires.. cause i was told i can just unhook the harness and it should disable the safc.. correct me if im wrong .. as far as which is the voltage meter for the MAF sensor ? yeah this is a brand new tune burned from scott ...ill go to the sensor chk and write up all the #'s and you can decide if its a bad maf or not...

Nope you can not just unhook the SAFC. The wire/s from the MAF go into the unit and the unit make a voltage change to the signal going to the ecu. If you just unplug it the signal will never make it to the ecu. The unit completes the circut.

You only have to reconect the signal wires the power and ground wires you could just unplug.

The easiest way to do that is to unplug the SAFC at the connector, then take a jumper wire and connect the maf in/maf out wires at the connector plug itself. It would take you all of 5 min to do this, just make sure you do it right or you could fry your ecu.

yeah imma have my buddy come by and do that .. well i do have some kinda news to post tho.. i cranked her and she will rev up to about 3400 and starts breaking up after that.. i did put the safc on 2in and 0out and thats prob all i got ...this was the only way the car would stay on without dying out on me. hmm would it be possible to just reconnect the maf wire and have that run str8 from the ecu and let me keep the safc just for monitoring purposes ( minus the maf since the wire will be cut..

You could definitely do that, but what are you trying to monitor with the SAFC?

i gave up on that safc .. i clipped all the wires off.. i havent rewired the 2 seperate wires for the maf.. only got around to the throttle... ill post more tomm.. i think i might be in luck and re-wire the maf inand out wires.. im crossing my fingers.. update more tomm... gotta get some new plugs mine are all carbonated.. LoL , keep you posted

edit: this morning i spliced the 2 maf wires back together since the single wire was split for the safc .. but the problem is now it wont crank with the maf plugged in.. only when its unplugged.. i pulled my plug in cylinder 1 and it was carbon coated and fuel was on it as well... imma go and change the plugs and fire it up again and see what happens... the frustration continues to build and i'm real close to getting rid of it....

re-edit: got new plugs and same thing.. she only stays on with the maf unplugged...

anyone wanna buy a kouki ? LOL Modified by sickzofive at 7:50 AM 3/29/2008

i put all the wiring back together on the ecu harness and removed my safc.. now the problem is the car runs fine and everything with the maf unplugged , minus the rev limiter.. but the second i plug the maf in the car dies out.. i've tried a new maf sensor from my boys Z and it does the exact same thing.... i know i have an exhaust leak , but could it really cause the car to die out the second the maf is plugged in ? doesnt make sense..

You have to have something wired wrong, even with a bad maf the car will still start. I'd suggest changing your oil real soon as well, cause I'm sure it's got fuel in it by now.

i plan on doing that soon .. like within the next week or so... im really thinking its faulty wiring somewhere too , i wonder if a bad maf harness could be a culprit , or if i didnt wire something back together right when i took the safc off , i know that the safc takes the single maf wire and makes it into 2 signals to control the in and out settings , so when i cut the 2 wires off , which i believe was yellow and white ... and then i just respliced the white wire for the maf sensor back together.. i checked my ecu and its fine.. i get a bad egr from the LED pulses but i got that from my obd2 reader before i went with the tune. i did have 1 thing i didnt get back to writing on.. when i had my SAFC installed i wrote down the sensor #'s and the voltages was as follows

IN-1 3.215vIn-2 0.070vthrt .425v

hmmm what could it be.. car ran on a 3in and 1out on the safc and the car would rev to redline , tho i never took her off the driveway.. that is a weird setting tho seriously.. well let me know what you think. thanks for the help[ so far

well , i reviewed all the wiring on my harness and the conversion harness as well and everythign looks to be ok.. i did crank her this morning and she started for 10 seconds with the maf plugged in , but she just choked on the fuel and died out on me , afterwards she wont start .. i dunno im having reason to believe it might be maf harness ? on my z32 maf harness i had 5 wires.. the usual 4 wires...2 ground and the 5v and the 12v.. and on pin A i had this orange wire .. i dunno if i have to wire that somewhere ? i'ev taped it up and just left it in the loom... is this normal ? cause i seen my buddies maf adapter and its only 4 wires ... i did do a code check on the ecu and im getting codes 12 and 11 .. i know 12 is for the MAF sensor....idk what code 11 is .. someone shed some light plz , thanks

went to junkyard and got a new maf sensor and harness and i got the same problem.. car shuts off the minute the maf is plugged in... *sigh* im about to set the car on fire

edit: fixed the problem.. the damn conversion harness had a broken pin for my maf......and had some grounding issues.. all said and dones shes working like a charm.. i do have to re-install my safc.. im not about to recirculate my BOV forget that .. yes my car chokes to death after a hard rev up.. =] shes alive..

Nice man. Way to stick with it. I'm glad you got it running.

Sorry we doubted your SAFC and wiring skills... It just seems that it's always the culprit. Especially since most are had by the 2nd, 3rd, even 4th owner.

And get the SAFC hooked back up. Fiddle with the settings in there for the Decel Air option. There are a few good write-ups on it floating around here. I went by it, and it worked great for me when I needed it to.

lol thanks for having faith in me -_- yeah cause i had my friends roomie whose a mechanic come look at the harness and every thing seemed good so i knew it wasnt wired wrong....it was a good thing i decided to do my extensive research .. another KA-T lives !!!! just gotta get a stronger clutch... my stock one isnt gonna last me very long >=) thanks for the help through this

Good news man...I hate wiring gremilins, especially someone elses. They are very hard to troubleshoot after the fact.

When you find the info on the decel air settings, do me a favor and dpcument EXACTLY what you do and how well it works. So I can make either add or edit what we have in the Info sticky.
