I just bought a new head unit and ipod interface for my 95 240sx. I soldered the stereo harness to the vehicle adapter harness so that is all good. The questions I have are: Should I run the amp remote wire from the stereo harness or the vehicle harness and What would be a good power source for the ipod interface to tap into? I know these are rather noob questions but I haven't done an install for a couple of years so I am a bit rusty and want to get it right.

Oh and while I'm at it I am looking to buy a 6.5 component setup for the front and I can't decide which to get. I am looking at spending around 150-200 bucks so give me some recommendations please. Thanks

Well...it's best to run the amp turn on from the head unit (should be the blue wire with the white stripe) because the amp is told to turn on by the head unit...not the car. SoundStream and PolkAudio make some really nice speakers. I can hook you up with a good deal on soundstream, since thats a product my shop carries. They're loud and very clear. PolkAudio is what I run in my car and I love em..but I got a huge discount since I work at circuit city part time. Depending on what Ipod adapter you have...you'll need to power it from a different source...mine is run from the ignition.

So how do I tap into the ignition? It's a pioneer head and ipod adapter. I was looking at some Polk momo 6.5 component or possibly focal access component.

I have the one piece components...I didn't want to cut a hole for the tweeter in my impala (it's my first car, I'm selling it for a maxima and 240 as soon as I get approved for financing) The ignition wire...I'm not sure what color it is in the 240SX...there should have been a install instruction sheet with the ipod adapter...hmm...the red wire with the black stripe should be the ignition wire (it'll be in your ignition harness) don't quote me on that though. An easy way to figure it out is to turn your car off and see if that wire is reading 12V if it is then its just the constant 12V and isn't switched...if it reads 12V only when the key is in the on position then it's the ignition. But actually I just looked up the install manual for the ipod adapter and its switched through the head unit...just hook it up to constant 12V...you can use the same wires your head unit is using for power.
