Ok I bought drifiting.com S13-S13 swap video. It also covers the swap wiring. It all seems staight forward but I have one question. They are telling me to shorten the main harness about 12-14 inches and I was wondering why that is? Whats the purpose for that?

since the harness was made for RHD and now is on a LHD car, its a little too long. It just bunches up at the firewall, I made it do a half-loop and it was fine, just a little tight under the abs.

The next time I pull the engine, Ill probably shorten it.

So is it a good idea to shorten it? As long as it can be tucked under the dash Im ok with a little extra wire. Input appreciated. Thanks

And:On accident I just cut the two grey sheilded wires on my SR harness (dont ask) but now Im not sure which one is which. If those wires were switched would this affect anything.

yes it would be a good idea to shorten it. If the guys on the dvd say to do it theres probably a good reason behind it. Theres not a lot of room under the dash. I have the extra harness on the outside of the firewall, in the engine bay. Its kind of all bunched up there with the starter.

the 2 shielded wires are probably your MAF and 02 sensor. You will have big problems if you mix those two up. Now that I think about it, isnt the maf 3 wire and the 02 a 2 wire?

Your best bet is to get the fsm and trace the wires back to find out for sure exactly what they're for. Since their shielded, theyre important.

Well I guess if they were switched, chances are the ecu wouldnt understant the signals coming from the "MAF" and would put itself into limp mode, and limit your rpm to 2500, and throw a maf code. So that would be pretty easy to diagnose. Then you would have to cut and swap plugs.

So not like it would blow up, just more messing around.

Search and trace the wires and get them right. It'll be worth it IMO!
