allmost ready to drop motor in but still need to do the wiring

question:

1) i may have missed it but, on HT throttle site are they using sr engine harness or ka?

2) It appears that everyone is using KA lower harness instead of SR why? is it because its different at the connection point (battery)?

3) instead of cutting and soldering why not just depin and repin the wires from the plugs?

I have a full engine harness from the sr with fuse boxes... would i be better off still using the top engine harness from the sr and lower harness from the ka?

i knoe there are alot of wiring info out there just trying to get some quick inputs......

about the lowering harness, you can use either or. Actually if you have the sr, it's so you don't have to swap plugs. Atleast I would have had to if I used the KA. If you have the front clip grap the wires that the harness plugged into and also cut the plugged from your ka and solder your bridges there so you can just plug it like an extensions with the proper connections. The same thing for your dash connector by your ecu

i knoe using the ka lower harness 2 plugs don't get used at the transmission and you have to transfer 3? sensors from the ka transmission to the sr transmission.... even if i use the sr lower harness i still would swap out the sensors and at the connection point near the battery would i still need to rewire it or plug and play type ordeal?

i'ma try doing the wiring myself so if anyone has pictures or diagrams besides on HT site would be nice....

thanks

Soldering is easier if you are good at it and there are a couple wires that need to be soldered together by the battery anyway.

Lower KA harness is easier mainly because of the battery. The SR harness battery connection is too small to fit around most battery posts. The two main sensors that need to be redone are the reverse lights, and speedo sensor. Other sensors like wiring up the neutral position sensor are up to you. You can leave the SR speed sensor in the transmission because it is the exact same as the KA speed sensor.

thanks for the info and yes i will be soldering the wires and use heat shrink, it seems like the ka lower harness is the way to go to make this as simple as possible......

now that the lower harness is taken care of any thoughts to the upper besides matching up the wires and extending a few?

reading HT wiring it says to cut 2 of the main KA harness off (engine harness?) F8-white F9-brown, assuming this is what they are referring too and cut the sr ones of and match and splice using KA main plugs?

i may be making this harder then it is but want to get this right the first time..... thanks for your inputs

cut black/red and blue/red of the ka and solder it with the black/red on the sr. You will need a bigger diameter heat shrink since you have 3 wires to wrap all together

You can also put the brown wire off the SR harness into that combined wire. It powers the O2 sensor.
