I got a stereo for my V a year ago, and never got around to installing it. (2 kids kinda eat up all my free time...) ANyway when I ordered it, Crutchfield said they didn't have an installation kit for it. I did get a "universal" plug from them, but the wire colors don't match up to what the instructions say. I did look at the install write-up by "Ever Victorious", that says what the wire colors are in there. So...do I *HAVE* to cut the plug out of the car to wire up the stereo? I tried to put a stereo in a car waaay back in the 80's and somehow blew out the stereo by wiring it up wrong, so I really don't want to wreck anything, or start a fire. Anyway, has anyone here put an Alpine head unit into a Versa lately? Thanks. Oh yeah it's an 08 base-model with the basic radio, and the Crutchfield people weren't real helpful, either.

So I got everything in. I know putting a reciever in isn't that big a deal compared to some of the installs you guys have done, but I've never done it before. It actually works! Anyway, a picThe only problem I had was finding something metal to ground the stereo to, everything in there was plastic. Lots different than the last time I did this, to a 1970's car with acres of room and lots of metal stuff. I guess the other problem was the adapter I got was warped or bent on top so the faceplate doesn't open or come off rightI tried heating it up to bend it back, but it warps down as soon as it cools off. It all works, I fianally can use my Ipod in the car, I'm happy. Thanks to everyone on here who helped.

Yeah if I wanna pull everything apart again, I can exchange the adapter for store credit, and they didn't have any more kits at that store. I can live with it instead of waiting X more months for another one to come along... jeez.
