Wiring problem

I just bought a 90 240 hatch and im having some problems with the wiring. The guy that owned it before for some reason decided to put a new wire between the battery and the starter and left the old one dangling still hot. So i can only compression start it right now because i cant even get it to attempt to start when i turn the key. The starter and the battery are good so what should i look at next?

uhhhhhhmmmmm eeehh eww take it to a mechanic.... lol

well is there a horn on the driver side fender or the firewall in the engine bay?

it looks like there could have been somethin bracketed onto wheel well
