I just got the electric fans out of a Nissan sentra and am going to install them this week. If I remove the A/C fan and splice the two fans into that plug, would the fans work and keep the engine cool? I've searched and am still a little unsure on how to exactly wire these fans. If you could tell me ways to wire these fans correctly, I would greatly appreciate it. By the way, I have a 91 with A/C.

no unles you intend to have the ac on all the time. if you dont have the original fan bolted on it wont be sufficant enough to keep the car cool it does not come on till a much higher tempture then the car should be at.

Thanks a lot for that info. That idea is out, now I have to figure out how I want to wire it. I'll probably go either an adjustable thermostat or just put a switch inside the car.

maybe you could find a temp controled switch that will screw into your block drain and wire the ground circuit for the fan thru the switch. to turn it on at the predetermined temp of the switch

I did the electric fan conversion about a year ago without any problems. Back then, I couldn't find out how to do it on an S13, so what I did was reroute the relay from the A/C to the interior fuse box. This way, when ever the key is turned forward (so that the engine light is on) the fan comes on. Since I still used the stock relay, all the amperage went through that and not through the fuse box. I've heard that you can also splice the fuel pump wire and hook it to the relay as well, but I didn't do that.

I have had no problems at all with this setup. I am, however, about to install my SR in about 3 weeks (just need to get the harness serviced and get some intercooler piping :ylsuper ) so I will be getting an aluminum unit along with a second "pushing" fan that will brobably be out of a sentra.

*NOTE*Some don't know what a relay actually does so I will do my best to explain it. It's not difficult at all.

A relay is just an electrically controlled switch. Basically, if there is a very small current going through the little terminals on a relay (like that from the fuse box) then the relay completes a circuit for a larger current (like that of the electric fan).

I have a modified Stanza dual fan, but it does not cool down as I would lilke it to be. If I start to rev up and drive hard it heats up quickly. So how different is the sentra fan???

Beer, I would imagine that the stanza fan setup would be sufficient as it is made for a KA24 engine. Do you have the mechanical fan attatched?

Nope, the mechanical fan is out, but it's going to go back on...

I'll let you guys know how the sentra fans work after I install them. I'm hoping they work just fine. Still debating how I'm going to wire them though.

I installed the Flex-A-Lite variable speed fan controller last weekend. I took out the stock fans (mechanical & electric) and replaced them with dual fans about two years ago and wired them into the stock electric fan plug. It sucked. The car tended to overheat in traffic because the fans only wnet on when thte engnie thought it was overheating. So, now that the new fan controller is in it seems much better.

could be the pump. could also be a restriction in the radiator or even a sticking t-stat.

Yup, It was the pump. I put a sealer & conditioner, and it works fine now. I might put back the electirc fan back in, or maybe just sell it and get rid of it.

use a switch to control the fans. you only need the fans for city and stop and go driving. the fans should not be on when driving on the highway. they will never need to be on while driving over 45mph continuosly.

Check out the Installs link on the main page. I took off my main fan, from the water pump, and hooked up a electric fan. I had to turn it on using a switch every time I started the car and turned it off.

Someone else posted a different way to wire the fans. He suggested to wire the fan through your relay. It's not that hard to follow the directions that he put down. I think the relay option is a much better way.
