i was reading some threads and articles about people who have wired their own rb's into their s13's and i had a question. wouldnt it be possible to just run relays to the main wires in the efi harness (fuel pump, ecu, ignition)?? ive heard of some people saying their is upwards to 30-50 wires inwhich they have to be soldered and connected in order to make a rb25-26 work in a s13.

considering you already have the lower harness done (knock sensors, trans, alt, starter), couldnt you just provide power to the ecu, ignition and fuel pump? or are there certain wires in which i am bypassing that are important and essential to getting the engine running?

All I did was hook up the essentials, ignition, eccs relay, fuel pump, 3 maf wires, oil pressure, temp, tach, speedo, fuel gauge, high beam ind, turn signal ind, gauge backlights, gauge grounds and ecu grounds. Its really only 20 wires or so. I havent driven it yet, but it starts and idles fine. I used environmental splice crimps, they are alot faster and easier than soldering and still give the same quality contact.

I might have not mentioned some wires, but I think that was about it, I dunno, I wrote it down so I wouldnt have to remember it.

Whats the point of adding relays? Seems like your gonna make it more complicated than it has to be.

at first i didnt know what you was talking about when you started to mention high beam ind, turn signal ind......then i realized you was talking about the r32-33 gauge cluster, right?

if you can double check with what wires you used from the efi harness, that would be awesome. the only reason i wanted to run relays, would mainly be for the fuel pump. its nice to know that the fuel pump will be getting its dedicated 12v while under high boost.

oh, sorry about the confusion on the R33 cluster. Email me when you want the wiring info. I dont want to post it here yet cause I want to go drive the car first to make sure everything works. Dont want to post bum information.

rustbucket,

could you tell me how you got your temp gauge to work?

thanks
