Hey guys,

Had no luck finding this searching, so hoping someone can please help. I would like to wire JDM power folding mirrors to fold in when arming the alarm & fold out with disarm. The car is a 92' Nissan 240SX, alarm is a Prestige APS-996A.

Thanks!

it's only 2 extra wires/mirror. one for fold in and one for fold out. just wire the respective ones into your alarm's arm and disarm.

food for thought, i originally thought about wiring mine to the ignition but ended up deciding against it. reason being, with all that use, the motors are sure to fail a lot sooner and i didn't want to have to hunt down another pair or feel like i wasted the cash going back to usdm mirrors.

Why not just wire them to an aux button on your fob. Surely your alarm will have one.

That way you only have to be JDM tyte when you want to.

i dont know how the folding mirrors are wired.. but if its only one wire (power open and no power close) then you could take the ground when armed and wire it to a relay that sends ground when closed and power when open. (you could do that if its a 2 wire hook up too.

what kind of alarm do you have?

I'll have to dig more deeply into the wiring, not quite sure how it works yet. Alarm is a Prestige APS996a.

ya im not familiar with that alarm. i only really know the DEI (viper, clifford, hornet, ect) alarms.

if you contact a guy, his user name is "the converted" i believe he might be a lot more knowledgeable in this. broadfield might know also.

might want to think about makeing a post in the audio and security part of the forum? good luck

It could be that the 2 extra wires are just for a signal. That would simply mean you have to connect them to the arm/disarm terminals on the alarm...

I'm pretty sure that you need a timer if you want it to fold all the way in. I haven't messed with the JDM mirrors, but I'm fairly certain that the switch doesn't have a built in timer, meaning you need to depress the fold in/out buttons for the amount of time it takes to fold them. Simply hooking your alarm up to it would supply power for a second or so. Not enough to fold them completely.
