wiring injector connectors

We are in the process of R&Rg the injectors on a 91 TT. The new leads ae red and black, the oem leads are white on black and green on white I think. Does it make any difference which is wired to which as I was told one time it made no difference they will work! Stopped at dealer and they have no info on a veh 'THAT OLD' so went to a indy shop and was told that it is a true statement but they recommended black wire to the wire with black and red to the other. I cannot find a wire diagram showing the hot and ground wires and system is apart so cant turn key on without fuel splatter.

Shouldn't matter, if both wires are different gauge, connect thicker wire to thicker wire. Just keep them all consistent.
