Can someone please tell me what this wire is for. Its the shielded wire with the black wire coming off of it. Could this be for my knock sensor. I was just going over my harness and noticed this when I peeled the old tape back. Before I just hard wired my knock sensor. thanks

No, thats not the knock sensor. I can't remember exactly what those are for but I didn't use them, and they don't need to be hooked up. I looked them up on the wiring diagram the first time I did the wiring just to make sure I didn't need them.

If I'm not mistaken, dosn't that wire have something to do with the MAF?

No its not for the maf I got my three wires for that. Well if its not used and its not the knock sensor wire, can someone tell me where at on the harness it might be ? I hate knock sensors.

Just hardwire the knock sensor straight to the ecu, pin #23 as seen here:

Thats the easiest and least problematic way to do it.

3 wires? You must have a KA maf then. The CA maf uses 4 wires, I just checked my swap and when I wired in my KA maf I just left that wire dangling there since it dosn't need to be swapped over when converting the mafs. Don't worry about it, just wrap it in electrical tape to keep it from shorting out.

i seem to remember there being 2 shielded wires that look like that, one is the knock sensor (lower harness) the other was for O2 sensor

the MAFs on my harness used the same shielded bundle as the CAS

on the FSM, shielded wires have dashed lines around them i dont have it in front of me, but thats where to confirm

I thought it said that the brown wire was for the O2 sensor that hooks up to any 12v. Here is another pic im not really sure what this goes to (shielded wire with black coming off). The wires to to the left are not needed.

if thats the connectors near the battery, then its the knock sensor (stock config knock sensor plug is in the lower harness, shielded, then splits into the signal and ground near the battery, then back to shielded in the upper engine harness back to the ECU

so if i hook up my knock sensor to this wire and ground the black wire everything should be ok ?

I guess I didn't use that because I was having problems with the knock sensor, I ended up wiring it straight to the ecu and its worked ever since.
