Is there any way to make the stock radiator fan 'think' that my A/C is on, even though I do not have the climate control unit?

A few years ago my A/C wiring caught on fire, so I removed all of the A/C and heater components, including the climate control, since that entire portion of the interior harness is completely burnt up and unusable.

Recently I have learned that some people who remove their A/C keep the climate control and the fan plugged in, and whenever they want the fan on they just press the A/C button.

I like how it uses the stock connector and relay and everything meant for the fan instead of requiring any extra wiring, but since I cannot use the climate control, is there any way to make it as if my A/C button was on? Do I just need to 'bridge' the fan relay somehow, or is it more complicated than that?

Thanks for any input!

Bump.

Basically, what I am asking, is there a way to keep the a/c fan plugged into the stock connector, but have it come on automatically when I turn the key to the on position?

I know this can be done easily with the climate control unit, but since I do not have one, I am guessing I would need to jump the relay somehow. What I am not sure about is which one and how, since I am a wiring newbie.

Thank you!

do you still have the A/C relay wired in? if so its easy. pop open your fuse box, look for the ground wire(think its green with a yellow stripe) cut it. run a wire from the relay side drectly to ground and presto. i hade to do this(tho mines on a switch under the dash) becouse of bad wiring that i didnt want to deal with was preventing my ac from working. note that this will kick on your fan and compressor. for this to work, you will also have to bypass the coolant temp sensor in the BOTTOM radiator hose. pretty easy. get two spade connectors and crimp them on about 2 inches of wire. slide them onto the prongs and tape it up. i still have all my wiring(for this) exposed so if you need me to go take a look, let me know

Thank you for the info.

By A/C relay, do you mean the one in the driver side relay box? If so, yes I still have it. However, there is also a separate relay in the passenger side fuse box just for the condenser fan. I traced the brown wire from the fan connector and it goes to it.

Here is a picture of the fuse box cover.

And the relay itself.

Here are few ways I have been thinking about. Please let me know if they are completely dumb and/or would not work.

1. Ground the relay wire as you advised, but do it to the fan relay instead of the A/C one.2. Instead of using the relay, just run a wire with spade connectors between 3 and 5, and between 1 and 2, so the circuit is always closed.3. Cut the ground wire from the fan and ground it even before the connector, and only have the power wire going to the connector.

Would any of those work and make the fan turn on automatically?

If not I will try grounding the A/C relay. Thanks again!

i actually completely forgot about that one(blame it on the jack daniels) the reson i went with the driverside one is becouse i was also controlling the compressor.all your ways will work. but if i can, id like to recommend that you keep the relay in the system. fans can run some pretty high amps and its just a better idea. plus, just grounding the relay is probably the easiest one to go with.wich ever one you decide, do it and let us know how it goes
