My mistake. I should say "direct" connection, this is to say, wire to wire and remove the connector.
Look, this is the hardness wiring for my truck, that is 2WD 4 Cylinder, but perhaps yours have a similar setting of cables.
I think that with these diagrams you might have at least an idea where to work in your truck. Please remember that the wiring of your vehicle may be different because is from another year.
You are correct, the problem probably is at the terminal of the hardness, and my suggestion is to start with the light bulb first -replace it with a new one-, second the light socket, third the connector to the light block, and so forth.
If I'm doing the job I should start this way because it is the easiest way to start, and if you are lucky the problem might be right there.
Otherwise, you should remove the seat to reach the other hardness, check with a tester the brake wire -positive to the brake wire, negative to the body of the truck or any bolt without paint- if both connectors -the one at the rear light block and the one under the seat are fine, then the problem might be in the wire itself, so you might check the wiring line to see if it is broken somewhere.
If no problems with all the above, then check the connection to the brake...but such it the last step, because is the harder one.
I''l hope you find the problem and fix it without much trouble.
