this might be a dumb question but i'm wondering if i definitely need to use a ka harness for the rb25 swap. i have a s14 shell and it did not come with the factory ka engine harness. and from what i've read on here so far, the tach and speedo won't work properly so was gonna use aftermarket gauges for that. so is there anything else significant that i would need from the ka harness to get my rb to run? thanks for any help with this.

We can build you a conversion harness for your swap without the KA harness. We would need to know what year your car is in order to wire up the wipers though (as they changed through production years).

The tach we do offer the service which you can send in your existing tach to get modified to work with your RB swap:

The factory temp gauge will want to use the single probe sensor from the KA to read correctly.

Speedo will work with the conversion of the lower harness.

So if I don't use a ka engine harness, will it be more work? The only part of this project I'm dreading is the wiring. I just want to understand more about what's involved before I jump into it. And if I don't feel confident enough I might just spend the money for a premade harness.

we sell both wiring service and pre-made harnesses. There is a small upcharge for harness work without a KA harness.

Pre-made S14 harnesses are more money then the conversion service but we can also supply you with one if you want to go that route.
