do you mean the harness going to the dash? or the brown and grey plugs near the battery?

On the KA, the rest of the wires are listed in the KA FSM as going to the 'check connector'. It is not necessary to connect any other wires to get the SR to run properly.

This? its just color to color

if you do hook up the 'check connector' wires properly you can then use gizmos such as the techtom mdm-100 or vlogger or other consult-based devices... nifty but not necessary..

FSM is factory service manual.

you can download the CA FSM from the FAQ thread at the top of the forum I think, somewhere. As for your KA FSM you'd have to own one or know someone that does, for your year. There are various FSMs floating around for US cars but not for the 90. I have an 89 which is mostly the same but I'm not at home right now so ...

ok if the 2 plugs behind the battery were not hooked up.. would it not start? and when do you get home? this is the ONLY thing keepin it from firing. it rolls over though

yeah those 2 plugs provide power to the ECU, AC control from the ECU, a few other things like neutral position sensor and such..

probably not the spark plugs.

check for codes from the ECU. turn car to 'on', then use a screwdriver on the little adjustment thing, turning it all the way to the right, and it'll flash twice, pause, three times - when it flashes the third time turn it all the way back to the left.

now it should after a second or so start flashes codes, first the red X flashes and green Y flashes after that IIRC.

the codes are refered to in XY fashion i.e. 5 red 5 green is 55, 55 is all is ok (to the amusement of all who have a small bit of japanese understanding, the japanese word for the number five is 'go', hence the everything is ok code is 'go go'..)

I forgot the other codes, I think 12 is MAF ... find the FSM (search forum for links to PDF, ther's one on zilvia.net but its missing some pages in the engine mechanical section, good enough for what you're doing though) ...

long story short, the ka side has 4 wires.. a pink with blue stripe, a yellow with blue stripe, orange, and black wires. the CA side has 2 wires, white and black. this is the knock sensor.. what wires go to what?

You'll either have to connect the det sensor directly to the ECU harness or rewire stuff car-side.

on the CA ECU harness white connector by the battery there should be a white wire there, and diagonally adjacent to it is another wire (black? not sure color its not specified) these two are for the white and black wires on the det wire.. the black is actually just a shield wire, the white is the actual signal.

when we rebuilt my harness we just connected it straight from the ECU and ran it under the intake mani from where the ECU harness comes out of the firewalland goes up behind the engine.. originally it goes through that connector by the battery tray, then through the body harness to the lower engine harness where the starter/alternator/transmission stuff is.
