New member, but have been visiting this site for about a year now. I am in going to install a JVC single din headunit in my 08 altima sedan, non bose. The JVC wiring harness has 2 more wires than the wiring harness adapter that I bought for my car. I have been told that this is the correct harness, but I just want to make sure before I possibly destroy my headunit. The wires that don't have any corresponding wire on the adapter are Black wire and a purple and white striped wire. Do I just cap them off or tap into another wire....Please help. I have searched for hours and unable to see if anyone has this same problem. Thanks in advance

The black is probably a ground wire (should be connected to the sheet metal of the car). I'm not sure what the purple/white is. Didn't some instructions come with the harness? You likely wouldn't mess up the head unit without connecting the wires, but it probably wouldn't work correctly (it certainly wouldn't work if you didn't connect the ground).

There was no wiring diagram that came with all your stuff? There should be something that labels that wire and tells you what it is for.

for almost ALL aftermarket headunits... purple/white wires from the aftermarket deck usually go to the reverse signal wire. I.e., the positive wire for your reverse lamp. If you check my Avic d3 write up, I show where that wire should be connected!

I'm guessing you have one of the JVC single din decks that hav a mini monitor or TV on it right? Or am I off?

I read the FAQ and the install of the AVIC, but it didn't think it applied to my radio. When I first had the radio installed into my trailblazer, bestbuy did it and tossed all the paperwork that came with the stereo. I only let them do it because they had a free install with purchase over a certain amount. My single din JVC has no monitor or monitor outs. I ended up talking to a buddy of mine at a local audio shop and he said to just cap it. He identified it as an extra antenna connection. I capped the purple/white wire and it all works perfect. Anyway, thanks for all helping me out with this. The value of the knowledge on forums like these is unmeasurable.

glad you got it working... out of curiousity, what's the model number of your JVC unit?
