Ok so after testing my MAF signal from the ECU, it seems that I have an open circuit. So the only thing I can think of is tracing the wire back to the ECU and changing out. Is there a certain way to do this ( I have no wiring experience whatsoever) or do i just get some of the same gauge/rated wire and change it straight out from the ECU to the MAF connector? This is for a RB26DETT.

who did the harness orginally?best bet is to just untape the maf trunk and see how far back it goes and check splices made.if it was a tophat car expect butt connectors.

The retard I got it from wont reply to me (surprise) but all in all its a pretty crappy wiring job. Ill probably go out this weekend and trace it back. Im completely novice to wiring issues so hopefully I dont mess it up more! If it were mechanical I would have had this problem fixed weeks ago!!

gotta love it man, hackjobs that dont know what they are doing or are willing to pay to have it done right just make it a headache for the next person.good luck with it, fixing electrical problems == not fun.

The splice can't be too far from the maf. Just trace the wire back. It's really really really really REALLY simple. I really wouldn't bypass the factory wiring for the maf unless you can find the appropriate shielded cabling.

How are you checking for the open?

I used a multimeter and tested the power supply and its getting 11.8 so about 12 volts and I tested the MAF signal (white and black wire) for continuity and the thing read that it was an open circuit. The top MAF is fine the meter beeps if the resistance is <30 ohms. So that leads me to believe that the second MAF signal wire is bad. So if Im messed up feel free to let me know.

I ordered a new MAF and hopfully that combined with repairing the short will hopfully fix my idle issue. Carl H is there any specific wire I sould use to replace the one that is shorted?

run brand new sheilded wire for the maf, nothing less.needs to be 2 conductor sheilded, you can get the stuff at radioshack altho its kinda hard to work with.

Carl H or anyone else know of any place I can take the car to get rewired? I spent a good part of the morning tracing out the wires from the MAF.... to put it cleanly its a complete F&^%$ job. Since my limited wiring expertise is probably going to prevent me from fixing this I was hoping there was somewhere in NC, GA or even FL that can wire an RB26. If anyone knows give me their number so I can get an estimate on the price and make a plan to bring it down there.
