I've heard that you can wire an electrical water temp gauge from one of the wire bundles from the ECU that goes to the OEM gauges. The reason Im asking is that the engine is is in my 510 and I dont see any other way I can wire up a water temp gauge. All input is appreciated. Thanks!

just hook up your factory water temp gauge to the water temp signal of the ECU!thats exactly what I have done.....and everyone else I know that has a EFI motor in thier datsun.

No reason at all to have to buy a new water temp gauge ( unless you want it for the looks ).

the factory one is an "electrical" one anyway

What color is the wire for water temp from the ECU?

If i get an aftermarket electrical water temp gauge and hook it up with that wire from the ECU will it read properly?

I have no idea what color the wire is for the KA24 ECU's water temp.....just look up a pin out diagram on google to find out.

the wire that goes to the factory dash water gauge is "usually" yellow with a white stripe"thats what my book says....and both 1600's that I have wired EFI engines into have been ( but I'm in NZ...so maybe....but unlikely, its different )

I dont know if this helps any but when I did my 95 ka into my 510 I could not make the factory gauge work.

One reason was the temp sensor used a two wire plug to make it work.

Mabe the 93 is different.

I ended up just installing a mechanical sensor in the water line and it worked just fine.

CA18DET's have 2 water temp sensors.....one that talks to the ECU, and the other is there only for the dash gauge.maybe you could just take your thermostat housing to an engineer, and get them to make a thread to fit the stock 510 one in there?
