I have a 2008 rogue that is pre-wire ready from the factory. I have bought the nissan wiring harness. How do I fish it to the hitch? The dealer told me to drill a new hole for it. I kind of want to steer away from drilling. Please advise.....

I just keep mine coiled up inside the hatch area. When I need it, I just pull it out and close the hatch. Never had a problem with the wiring 'wearing out'.

Silverboy, found several possible locations to fish wiring for his backup sensors. You could do the same:

From what I remember (that is a long time ago), there is a vent on the side of the cargo. You will need to remove the lining above the cargo level ( the one you see on the picture above).

There should be a vent leading to the rear wheel area (you will need to remove the wheel well protection to get to the vent from outside). From there, you should be able to reach the back of the car and the hitch.

I use this vent to pass the wire of my back up radar.

Don't forget to stick the wire to the car to avoid any rattling or cut wire in the future.

Where is the end (plug) on the factory provided pigtail stored in/on the car? 2008

who sells a harness (besides the dealer for mucho $$$) that will simply plug into the harness that we were charged for when we bought the car??

Sorry, the Official Rogue FAQ sticky used to have all this information. But it's currently being reconstructed... all the links are dead.

Here it is in a nutshell:

The Rogue DOES NOT come with a 4 pin trailer wiring harness. The pre-wire mentioned in the manual/literature is just a plug buried under the cargo floor that provides power for Nissan's very expensive trailer light adapter.

Here is a thread with great pics (from my Rogue) showing the pre-wire location and how I used an aftermarket adapter:

A better solution is the Professional Wiring Products trailer light adapter shown in this thread:

If you have any more questions, ask away.

Will the Profession wiring products fit the 2010 AWD rogues also?
I've checked on their site and they don't seem to have an 2010 kit.

I've also noticed that with this kit from etrailer, it require you to run a really long cable up to the battery through the underside,

will the professional wiring product require that or will the factory prewiring that came with SL AWD model have the necessary power connector there?

There should be no difference between the model years. The Professional Wiring Products harness should fit your 2010.

Right but will i still need to run a super long cable to the battery or does the "pre wiring" have connectors that supply the power already

No, you do not require a super long battery cable as there is a 12V power connector under the cargo area floor. Please read my second post above. I have given links (which can also be found in the Official Rogue FAQ) that describe the install process complete with pictures. Please read them first then let me know if you have any more questions,

No, not at all! There is an available/unused power cable just waiting to be used roughly on the left side of the floor - see Philipa240SX's link above "How To Trailer Light Wiring", it clearly shows and describes the power source. It's very convenient and all you do is plug in, it couldn't be easier!

Actually, when I installed my kit I found the "How To" a little hard to follow (no offense Phil, we all know you're awesome, it's not you, I'm just not the most competant DIY'er!). I actually found it much simpler than the How To implied, I ended up just following the instructions that came with the kit and all you do is plug in to power, plug in to left tail light, plug in to right tail light, attach ground and you're done. Very simple, no splicing, just unhook existing plastic plugs, plug in your wiring kit plugs, and you're done.
