Hey, this thought just popped into my head the other day and this may be a VERY dumb question, but...-When swapping in a CA18DET, why not just put the ECU in the driver's side kick panel so that you dont have to lengthen all the wires to go on the passenger side? Sorry if this is a dumb question but i was just curious.

Thanks!~ian

i think its cause even though you put it in the drivers side, you would still have to lengthen wires. like the wires going near the battery. dont quote me on that though.. thats what i always thought. anybody really know? haha..

I believe it's 'cause there's no room, since that's where all your fuses are, and they have to stay there, so there's no room for the ECU,

my dad and i are gonna take a look on the driver's side to see if it will fit. it just seems to me that lengthening a whole wiring harness could easily be screwed up and rather than take the chance, try to fit it somewhere near it's stock location.

Have you ever seen how tight the wires are to the stock KA ECU? You have to disconnect the wiring harness from the ECU to move the ECU just a little bit, the wiring harness is very tight, and it wants to stay where it is.

In order for the ECU to fit into the driveres side kick panel, you'll either need to move the Fuses to the passenger side and get the JDM kick panel so you can get to them. Or you can move the fuses to a place that is not easily accessable.

Or you need to lengthen wires and move the ECU up a little ways in the Drivers side kick panel.

Either way, you gonna have to lengthen wires. Whether it be the Fuses or the ECU,
