I know there has been some discussion about this before, but I don't remember anything ever coming from it. I am talking about having your Stock OEM Fogs come on using the OEM stalk, not a aux switch.

I found this even though it is for a Acura TSX. Maybe it would give someone the bug to do a nice how-to for our Altima.

KP Technologies has already done this for the altima coupe.

Is this what your talking about ???Check this thread...http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread/358541

There are pics of both OEM light stalk switches. Both with fogs and without.......I think there were the same amount of pins on each oem stalk plug recepticle......if I remember correctly so good luck.....Because I thought about maybe trying to run them independently as well.

Seems alittle expensive. On my 05' Nissan Frontier I traded in, all I had to do was a simple Jumper Wire. It worked perfect for years. Would this not work?

No one else is wondering how to do this? I found some other examples of how to do it without a $50+ kit. I am just not brave enough to try it first.

Reading all the other threads from different car forums are confusing as heck. Has anyone with an Altima done this mod?

Now do you know how to hook it up independently instead, such as hooking it up to your parking lights?

I'm actually gonna try this out sometime next week. I'm gonna hook it up to my fog lights and see what happens.

awesome tell me how it goes. I read that if you do this mod you won't have the option to turn your fogs off.

I never turn off my fogs when I have my headlights on so this will not bother me.

So I e-mailed KP Technologies and this was their response.

"We got the module to work on the Altima coupe (as displayed on NICO) but the module does require some simple hardware substitutions. Because we manufacture our products in house we have the ability to make “Altima” specific modules at no additional cost – we just need to know about it when the order is placed so we can ship the correct product. If the product becomes popular we will add it as a stocked item with its own part number."

"Due to the fact the fog light relay is integrated in to the IPDM under the hood and is CAN bus controlled it is much harder to manipulate the system. Our module ties in to an OEM data bus to detect the position of the switch and then to control a separate relay to drive the fog lights. If you’re not worried about using the fog light button itself you can wire it up like your Pathfinder so the fog lights are on whenever your parking lights are on (with no control beyond that). However, it would still require quite a bit of splicing as you would have to tap in to both fog light control wires under the hood and in to the parking light signal with a weatherproof Bosch style relay. In fact, there is a thread on G35driver right now where we helped a sedan owner wire his fog lights up so they acted as Daytime Running Lights (on when car on, off when parking lights or headlights are on but still controllable by the switch). You do have control options, but unfortunately you will have to cut some OEM wires, add an additional weatherproof relay, and run the associated wiring under the hood."

If someone finds the thread on the G35 sight, please post it here.

The KPtechnologies module is $44.99. Considering it includes all the fuses, wiring and the weatherproof relay needed to make it all work, and it taps in to the OEM data bus to determine when the OEM switch is on/off the price is not bad. If you went to an auto store and bought the relay, fuses, and associated wiring I bet you would spend over $25. For $20 more you have OEM integration, technical support, and a warranty!
