I mounted the fans to the radiator but now all i need is to find where to wire my electric fans so when i turn the key, the fans start on their own. i tried connecting it to the stereo but it burns the audio fuse. burned three of them already so thats a no no. any ideas?

y dont you just put it on a toggle switch or find the romote hot wire that goes to the fuse box. Maby u could take a fuse out and find wich side is hot then just get amale connecter and put there then put the fuse back make shure u got a inline fuse in the wire going to the fan.

You're joking, right? I'm surprised you didn't just keep putting bigger fuses in until it stopped blowing fuses, you seem like that type. And no, you don't want to just put a toggle switch on it, that's stupid too. You need to go get a single pole/single throw relay, a switch, and an inline fuse if you're going to run it through a switch. If you can't figure out how to wire that I can explain. If you want your car to catch on fire, do it your way.

I finally found that the cigarette lighter holds the current of electricity, drove it around and held pretty good. wire does get a lil warm though.

here i soldered the two fan wires into one.

ran it through the wiring harness.

i then unplugged the cigarette lighter (since i dont even use) and connected the fan wire into there.

everything put in place.

the final product.

Dude! You have to be f*** joking! Do you know anything about electricity at all? You can't do s*** like that. And you sure as hell don't need to have it wired like that and be driving around with the fans on constantly. They make kits to wire up electric fans for a reason, you need to look into getting one.

i understand, that if that wire were to contact metal that it would spark and catch the car on fire.(if it was thick enough) the wire is pretty thin so before it catches on fire it would burn and split. obviously i can do this since it is working and took it out for a 30 min trip and everything is fine. im goin back to school so just imagine how tight on cash i am in. and whats with all your cussing, its a forum dude, u dont really wanna start flaming do you?

spend 5 bucks on a relay and a fuse. Wire up the relay trigger wire to your cigarette lighter like you have your fans, then wire the relay to a fuse coming off the battery. The reason for this is so that your electrical system is protected. It's not the right way to do it, but it is better than what you have and will fit your budget. The wires you have now are getting warm due to to much current running through them. If they melt and split, one side will still be hot and can spark a fire fairly easily. If you are on a fused circuit, then even if they overheat and melt, the short will blow the fuse and save your car.

I agree the language isn't needed, but he is just trying to save your car from sitting on the side of the road in ashes due to trying to save 5 bucks..........

I wasn't cussing at anyone for any reason, I just cuss a lot. And it edits on here so what does it matter? But you seriously need to do that correctly, that's a fire hazard.

OP there is nothing wrong with running a toggle switch, this guy is just retarded. As long as you do it safely there is nothing wrong with it. I did mine with a relay and put a fuse on each fan, then I put a toggle switch to control it manually.

fire hazard? Do you even know how much amperage goes through that lighter? Plus, just put a fuse in there and call it a day. Get off his nuts already.

You're just stupid as he is. You do need to wire your electric fans up through a relay, I don't give a s*** what anybody says. Yeah you can use a toggle switch, but you need to have it switching on a relay. That's just about as dumb as putting your headlights on a toggle switch with no relay.

as long as u have the wire to hold the amps with the proper fuse ur fine the fuse will blow before ur wire melts now if the wire gets hot then u will eventually burn it in two like a fusible link patrickm1587 do u know what a relay is?

Technical? You're joking right? Number one I didn't say anything about wire colors. Number two, I have a degree in residential wiring, I'm also a licensed commercial refrigeration contractor in NC. You're probably just a wire runner and conduit bender so keep your trap shut. And do I know what relays are? Of course I f*** do, I wired my SR20 into my 72' 510 going by a ECU pinout and a wire layout. And yeah, you could just use a larger wire, but you'd probably use a 8 or 10 gauge wire and that's just stupid, why not just use a relay?
