Wiring an amp/sub to bose, on 94 Q45.

I recently acquired a 10in sub and amp and I have no clue how to make it work. I didnt get any response in my last thread, so ill start a new one!!

I know ill have to get some power cords and run it from the battery all the way up.... but I dont know how im gonna make the little harness connectors to be able to hook up to the amp.....

Buy an amp kit that is the appropriate size for the power of your amp. It should have all of the connectors and wires that you need. All you need is a crimper/stripper to attach the spade connectors that will screw on to the amp and the ring connector to attach to the battery.

The tough part will be hooking it into the Bose system. I assume you would have to run high level speaker level inputs from the rear speakers into the sub amp. Those usually come with the amp, little plastic harness thingies with wires to crimp to the speaker wires. You probably could get those at an electronic store if they didn't come with the amp. Also, the levels coming from the Bose are lower than most aftermarket signals so that could be tricky getting balanced levels.

The whole process kinda makes my brain hurt, actually. I think if I was at the point of adding the sub, I would probably rip everything out and go aftermarket all the way, but that's just me Maybe some more knowledgeable folks...or people that have actually done this could chime in now.

Okay... here we go... What you need is a Soundgate LOCPREA. It is a voltage converter that will allow you to add the amplifier. Here is their web page so you can see what it is.

Sorry to not be able to talk to you at the NICO meet. I had been driving for 15 hours from Florida and had been up for 30 hours. Two of the guys that we went on spring break with had been really pissed off because they could not get any action on spring break and they just wanted to be home. We had talked about going to the meet and enjoying it for a while, but it got out of hand and we went home just to have a tire on the Q surrender itself to the road. It didnt blow, but it deformed enough to make the radar detector wobble off of the windshield at 45mph. That was not fun. We stopped in Indy to put on the other set of wheels and made it back to Purdue A-OkAY.

So let me clarify some things... I get that second one on the bottom of the page, and how do I get hte signal to that...?? Do I splice into it, or what????

Yeah. The easiest way to do it is to take out the rear seat bottom by pulling those little tabs, unscrew the back seat seat back screws (dont forget the 2 behind the armrest), and then remove the rear parcel deck to get to the 6x9's. The plugs that go into those speakers have 4 wires. There are 2 signal wires and 2 power wires. You can splice into the signal wires back there. You will have to use 2 on each side to get 2 channels of sound and the proper voltage for the Soundgate. The reason to use the rear speaker leads instead of doing it at the headunit is because you will not have to run rca cables from the front to the rear, just from the Soundgate that will be in the back after installation. This cuts way down on induced noise and makes it so you dont have to spend the time ripping apart one side of your interior, although you will have to take one side out to run a power cable. As far as the remote turn on is concerned, I would get a little 12v toggle switch at radio shack and find a place to install it. Connect it with a remote turn on wire to the cig lighter fuse in the fuse panel, then run it to the amp. This way the amp turns on with the car, and if you dont want the subs on (old people in car) then you can just switch them off. It is also good for road trips during the summer when you jam for hours in the hot sun and the amps do not get the cool air from the a/c so they go into thermal protection. When this happens hit the switch and the amp turns off, cools off, and you can still jam to your sweatin to the oldies cd. So that is my 2 cents. Let me know how else I can help.

AZQ45 (Jed) had a Bazooka wired into his Q45, but he just tapped right into the Bose speaker leads... Sounded OK.

mine had this http://www.caraudioandelectron...i.htm connected to both rear speakers somewhere under the black plastic cap (it's dark and they're screwed on so i can't tell you exactly where right now) and this http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/PERLVT2 (looks like that, red light on one end and 3 wires on the other) hooked up behind the headunit (not sure which wires, but i could find out if necessary) so the amp would turn on and off with the headunit. the shop that installed everything even had the great idea to zip tie the speaker wires to the hard fuel lines.

3 1000w 12's with 1 1000w amp, it hit HARD, even when turned down. ever seen the top of your trunk lid visibly move up and down with the bass?

i took it all out and found that i'm happy with the bass that stock bose provides, now i can't even give this stuff away, but it is Rockford Fosgate so i guess that's the reason.

nope, but i never turned it up all the way. the only time my cd changer has skipped was when the spare plenum i had in my trunk slid across and banged into the metal mounting plate.

Ok so I have a 94 q45 with Bose but don't know which wires.are the ones that I need to tap intothe rear speakers on the Infiniti have a lot of wires and I am not sure which one is which I have one of those little devices that tap into I would like to know if anyone has a rear speaker wire diagram but I can look at or at least tell me what colors are whatand the previous owner of my car has removed the 60s CD changerand left rear speaker is unplugged but I plugged it in and made a loud ,noise that sounded like a school alarm any info on that would be appreciated too if you could text anything to me that would be even better863-205-2544
