i got a set of fans and decided i wanted them to function like they would on a stock car. luckily, the 1st fan still had the plug attatched to the wiring so it plugged right into the stock 240sx harness in place of the stock electrical fan. then i addad a relay to both the high and low circuit on the stock fan circuit. (altima and 240sx fans work the same way, in terms of high/low) the relays are wired so they trigger when the stock relay triggers, they have one power wire each running to the 2nd fan and a power supply wire running from the terminal inside the engine bay fuse box. basically we replicated the stock fan control to control the 2nd fan. the relays are in the spare slots in the same box. basically the fans have two grounds and two power wires, if only one of them is getting power hte fan is on low, if both get power then it's on high. me and my friend figured this out and wired it in a fairly short amount of time. most of the altima fans seem to be wired to be on high as soon as the car is started. the way we wired mine lets the ecu control when they come on, switch to low, or switch to high. if anyone is interested i can post pics and maybe get a wiring diagram of some sort going

The maxima fans are a bit too wide. They'll still work but the fans if you cut too overzealously will hit the beams.

this applies to all years? i got this from what i believe to be a 90-95 maxima (the square looking version with the square headlights). it came with a VG30.

I tried the 95 maxima and I got it to fit after alot of cutting very carefully.

I made a cardboard cutout of the way it was gonna be mounted against the radiator and adjusted it that way. the actual blades come pretty close to just hanging there. Otherwise no recollection of the actual cutting since it was all ala cardboard and toss. I am now using altima fans though when the maxima fans kicked the bucket.
