I am putting a 91 KA24DE in my 510 I have the harness and the computer but need to know how to wire it up anybody have a good diagram?

BTW I bought the BC stroker kit too so I will most likely need to wire in a piggyback as well

I hate turbos. (nothing against people who run turbos, everyone has their own thing its just that mine is N/A not turbos)If I am going to build an N/A motor (which I am) might as well use a fully counterweighted crank and some nice rods Oh, and the added displacement can't hurt. I am not trying to get the most horsepower for the least money.I am not trying to get the most horsepower possible. This is not a drag racer so I am not chasing peak HPI am trying to build a fairly strong N/A KA24DE with a very nice torque and HP curve.

only reason I said that is cause its incredibly hard to make big or even good power with a ka24de. Even with the "fully counterweighted" crank I dont see you making over 200 whp. I think the only part of the kit worth the cash is the crank( < that guy doubts its balance), but yeah a ka has a half weighted crank= fvcking it internally over, and its already stroked out of the factory as well, your getting a better crank, imho thats it.

Do it shut me the **** up. If you are serious and have cash to throw, get a sohc, you CAN get over 200whp with one much easier.

dont take this wrong but even with your stroker kit, you may start looking into a snail to go on this motor once you have it all done and the results = failure. But again do it its yours. Best of luck with it.

Yellowcar, I guess the first question would be, do you prefer to use the original ka24de fuse/relay panel or build a custom replacement.

I have some docs I made up for a ka24 ecu/harness installation into a sprint car, if I remember correctly it was for custom, minimal fuse/relay panel. It was Mike Miller's Washington state sprint 100 champ car.

What I will do is try dig up this old information of mine and post it over at eccs.hybridka.com when I find it (or just make new docs) , you should make a thread over there.

My methods may be different, but there are probably tons of ka24de wiring installation guides and or wiring services for installation in the 510 available online.

deviousKA:I plan to build my own fuse/relay panel thanks for the help.

neverlift:Yes I am getting a better crank. I am also getting better rods and pistons.

Why do you say a SOHC will make more power?

Are you saying that if the motor doesn't make over 200 WHP it is a failure? I do not agree. Sure it would be nice if it made more but if when I am done I have a solid, drivable motor (not a motor that only has a powerband between 7and 8K) that makes 200WHP I am happy. (BTW my car weighs 2,000 lbs. it would probably go pretty well with 200 HP

well I say a sohc makes more power N/A than any dohc I have ever saw/read about. PERIOD. do a few searches you will find out, noone has even broke 200whp withoutsome serious cash and they have not told a soul(nico is 50000+strong we would know). A few here have come close but still cannot do it without boost/nawz.

I'm not saying you wont ffs I pray you do! I just wanted you to be aware, its flippin hard. Any n/a ka close to 200 is a great engine, and even if you dont get over 200whp you'll have a fun car. Not to mention IIRC ka dyno a lil higher in 510?. Just make sure to get a light drive shaft/flywheel/crank pulley. You will make 200 with the rest of the bolt ons I'd imagine. You wanna really step it up folk swear by the b/c cams. So get your *** to it and dyno it so we have some actual proof of the stroker kit and its value.

I will run a light drivetrain, hand built header and oil pan (just like in my older L/Z24 510)

I basically bough everything BC had for the motor.

Stroker kit, all the valves, valve springs and cams.

Figuring out the engine management will be a new challenge (I ran an electromotive crank trigger IGN with dual webbers on the last car)

I have always liked to do things a little differently

I am interested to see how it all works out.

BTW here is the car so far

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111

ok you have the plan it looks like. Do a 4 2 1 header IIRC make more across the board.

well if you like being different run your de off a stanza sohc(ka24e) ecu like me I'll soon be done with the whole thing and let my "base tune" go free of charges. I hope here this month but thats already pushed back from last month. lol life is funny.what color is that bottom half? cherry metalic? get on hybrid if your into rom tuning maybe deviouska will throw some hints to yah...

Thanks

I was thinking along thse lines for the header I might just buy a hotshot and cut it up and re weld to fit.

I have to admit I know very little about the ECU end of things and at this point I am not really sure what to run. One I get the motor in the car I will get more serious about the engine management

I am waiting to get more done on the car because I just bought a new house and won't have any room to work on the car until they finish my new shop. (then I have to get the shop wired up)

The lower half of the car is dark metallic copper. It has lots of pearl in it so in some light it looks sorta red and in some light it looks more brown adn other more coppery

oh I see it now, awsome color....

if your gonna chop it up, I'd go with an ebay header, you should come out a few dollars cheaper.. not much but you know.

funny all my plans and project(not as many as you though sheesh) stuff is on hold till at the soonest the first of august (should have given less time to the guy but eh whatever), when I too move. No shop here but a medium sized shed I know the 240 will fit nicely into. With plans being thought of for a small shop already, wifes not diggin me taking the back yard.

keep it updated. again nice D

The only thing I would say about an ebay header is the flange (and welding around it) would probably be crappy and the tubing might be thin.

I might just build a complete stainless one from scratch...

I have 5 acres so my wife isn't so concerend about the space as long as it is tucked into the trees and has a bunch of security stuff (she worries a lot )

The shop will be 24X48 so I have room for a hoist and two cars plus a nice sized work area
