hey everyone, i have 2 FAL S-blade 10 inch fans and was thinking about wiring them up today. I lost the FAL controller i bought with the fans (i bought them roughly 1.5 years ago) and decided to wire them to a manual switch for now. I have a few questions regarding how to wire them up.

Should I wire the neg wires of the fans to a chassis ground or to the negative post of the battery?

Would the positive wires then go to the switch? how would i wire it to the switch?

What would I wire the switch to?

You need to wire up the switch and fans to a relay. If you wire the fans straight from the battery to the switch to the motors, you will most likely burn out the switch. Get a relay in the system.

wire it to the negative of the battery post

3 choices

1) wire the positive to your ignition2) wire the positive to relay to ignition + positive (safe, cheap, but not the best)3) use a thermal stat + relay (best method)

if you want to come to my area on the weekend, bring me 6ft of 10gauge wires, a 12v bosch SPDT relay and I'll do the 2nd method for you

is that san jose?

see my problem is my maf is randomly going out also...i can drive normally for awhile and then all of a sudden i can't shift pass 2000 rpm...i think the maf connection is bad - my friend that did the wiring just crimped the wires...he didn't solder them...

my readings for the maf were 11.63v for power and .85v for the signal. This was the key turned on but the engine turned off...

lol nice one...

So how exactly do i wire it to the neg post?

Quote » 2) wire the positive to relay to ignition + positive (safe, cheap, but not the best) [/quote]what do you mean by wiring it to the positive after the ignition? where would i wire up the switch in this situation? i really want to be able to turn them off and on instead of having them run all the time...

As for the old clutch fan, do i just take it off completely?

And is there a way to mount the fans without punching holes in the radiator?

The wiring should be something like this. The switch can be anything, I wired mine to my defrost switch since my defrost stopped working a long time ago.
