Looked at a BLACK 04 coupe today. Looked pretty good, but it had a big gauge wire grounded on the left and another on the right and they went up under the plastic shield on the intake. What is this for?? I was in my cobra and didn't have my tools, otherwise I would have taken off the plastic cover and taken a pic.It did have a z-tube and k&N drop in too. (I know what those are for.)Thanks!

Oh, also stopped by the local Infiniti. they had like 10 G37's and 6 or 7 used G35 coupes. They're way too proud of anything on their lot.

Maybe the previous owner tried installing a 10 wire grounding kit....and did it with out reading the instructions

Can ya see copper in the "wires/cables" or could they be hoses?

red translucent plastic covering. Definitely wires. They are bolted to the each sides, so I would assume there are two. What would they be bolted to, or connected to under the plastic cover? Does anybody have a pic of what this should look like if it were a grounding kit??

Thanks!!!!

If it was an auto, 99% sure it's a ground wire kit. Did you test drive it?

I assume these were 8GA or larger? Does sound like a grounding kit. I believe they all tie together on a bolt near the manifold on the top-front of the engine. I have seen 4-5 wire and up to 10-wire kits.

Joe, didn't test drive it yet. maybe today.

Jeff, I'll try and get a pic. Got my tools in the trunk and I don't think they will care if I take the cover off.

it is an BO 04 coupe with 51K. Asking price is $22K, which is too high, but if it sits there for a month they will drop it. They actually have two on their lot (Honda dealer), VW dealer has 1, Nissan has 1, and Infiniti has about 7. And these are the lots in our little town, not Charlotte.

Thanks!

Maybe if you wait couple of more months and see what other states have where they have winter. I know here up North the sports car price go down bad winter time. That could be a good source to find a cheaper one. To find a cheap car in norther States. Just an idea. I don't know if that works.

did it look like this....

it's a 4 gauge ground wire kit. adds a little horsepower (somehow?) and helps autmatics shift better.

it's connected mostly to the manifold and a few other spots.

Chad,It looked exactly like the pic with the cover on! Haven't taken it off yet.The size wire looks the same too. Pretty sure they were grounded on the shock towers at the same location too.

So, this will help my 05 AT Sedan??

Is there a site that sells these and has insallation instructions?? (I SEE THEM NOW ON THE STILEN SITE)

Thanks!

yeah, here's the site....http://www.groundinggear.com/G...e.htm

i got the performance 10 wire kit. $150 total (that includes shipping from canada) it takes almost 2 weeks to arrive.

can't really tell the hp difference but my car shifts better. looks good, too.

the install is easier than the instructions make it out to be. pictures helped me the most. i have some if you need them down the road.

Yup, thats a grounding kit! It will help with shift and throttle performance in an AUTO trans. The jury is still out on the effectiveness of a ground kit on a manual...
