ok i am going to redo my harness to clean things up a bit..... easier for me now while the engine is out...i am going to fix the things on the harness which have been messed up from the beginning. and take care of some other things which have been bothering me...

anyways i am thinking im gonna move the ignitor near the ecu. what i wanted to know was if anyone has had any issues with over heating of the unit from it being in an enclosed space. or if there is a chance that the spark will get weaker from the ignitor being a few feet further away from the coils, i doubt this, but i am not an electrical genius.

also... if any one has any input on moving the relay boxes under the passenger side of the dash..... what are the pros and cons or possibly alternatives(other than it being a pain in the a** to do).....

thank you for any advice you have to give!!

I would move the ignitor somewhere where you can get some easy, but yet hidden access to it, and take it with you when you go out or something. Helps as a safety mechanism.

Post up some pics when you start doing this. I need to eventually finish up my mini wire tuck. lol

I think the ignitor would run cooler inside the car. No engine heat or hood to hold it in.

see the thing is.... that im not sure if it gets warm during operation or not hahah ive never checked.... but i would imagine something with alot of voltage running through it would get warm..... and i cant check it now. but i have seen alot of people doing this. and i havent heard of anyone running into problems... other than having to take the kick panel off to diagnose it or replace it. which is i dont mind. cause where i have it now is too cluttered for me. and you can barely see it as it is from the front of the car. but i think i will probably move it anyways.

any ideas on moving the relay boxes? i think i wll just put them on some sort of distribution block.... if i decide to get crazy and take the dash out and redo the ENTIRE harness. i just cant stand those two boxes!!!! and putting them near the bumper doesnt seem safe because it is a street driven car and i dont want the weather getting to it any more than it already does.

Relocating the relay boxes is a tough one. You might have to remove the dash.

I got it, mod the glove box. Have it so the door is still functional, but the storage part is gone. When you open it, theres your relay boxes. What do you think?

Meh, it's a resistor pack basically. It keeps the coils from frying the ECU. It's not increasing voltage or anything like that.

thanks, hijacker, i was hoping you would respond.

i figured it was an ampliifier, not a resistor, judging by the name "ignitor"

you know its funny you should say that because i was considering doing that... it isnt a bad idea at all. and there wouldnt be that much wire modification (except for shortening. so i think thats what ill do.thanks!

and what are these?

and does this thing has to be placed in a similar fashion to how originally it was placed?

a mechanic i know said ignitors can over heat if not on their mounting brackets. the back of ignitor is metal. he told me on my new one to put that gel stuff in between chip and bracket. i found this out in diagnosing a spark issue when i was first doing swap. my orig chip wasnt on bracket and it worked at first. then spark got all crazy. since ive got new one and put on bracket no probs at all. im in georgia and it gets hot as hell here in summer.
