i noticed on my friends altima that the electric fan will still run after he has taken out his keys.

is there anyway i can wire my electric fan that i just purchased to do the same thing? i found some threads giving instructions how to wire up the fans, but nothing on how it will behave.

if your fan is wired directly to a coolant temp switch this will happen. my fan is wired to a 195* switch and when i shut off the car, the fan continues for a while. the power source will have to come directly from the batt though.

by the way, my car is an s13. i am using the stock ac fan turned around so that it sucks(instead of blows), wired backwards(so it turns the other way), and the coolant switch is the stock a/c fan switch.

so instead of wiring the fan to the a/c clutch fan relay like most of the wiring diagrams i have seen. just wire it directly to the battery and throw a coolant temp switch in between.

you could do it with the fan relay but it will only work with the a/c on. i hard wired mine with the temp switch so everything is automatic. you will prob still want a relay in the circuit though as im not sure what kind of current the temp switch likes. i have a relay in mine(forgot to mention that) but its not the a/c fan relay that is wired to ign voltage and a/c switch.

is it necessary to switch the fan blades around and wire them backwards?

no, you could use it as a pusher as it comes stock on s13's. it is an a/c fan right? if its a regular fan it prob is a puller stock. just put 12v to it and see which way it spins. i imagine most fans are reversable. mine is :)

no they are 2 12 inch electric fans that came as pullers. but i'm setting them up as pushers and forgot to switch the blades around, i just flipped the wiring so that it turns the other way.
