Any idea why someone would do this with the factory amp? The rear speakers are still wired up and still working but why would they cut off the amp?

looks like they did an amp bypass. you should actually be happy. From what I've heard that amp doesn't sound right when installing aftermarket speakers. Mine was bypassed on both s14s I've had so I'm guessing it's true

Yep it's to bypass the original sound system. You have to do that to bose systems etc. When hooking up aftermarket speakers. Most places charge quite a bit to do that so as stated earlier your lucky.

Phew! Alright thats good. Thanks guys. Also, is it normal for there to be almost no bass coming from a 4x6 speaker? Would the 6.5 round speakers have more bass? Would it be alot more bass?

Yeah 4x6's suck. I just replaced 6.5's all around. I need a amp now for them to sound perfect. But just the 6x5's alone sound a lot better

Watch out on the depth of the speaker for the doors. My window came in contact with my first set so i got s shallower pair.
