Sometimes when I drive me 240sx it will be driving completely fine and the it will jerk and then when i push the gas it does not do any thing, the rpms drop and the motor sounds real dull as i push the gass and after a few seconds sometimes longer never the same it will all of a sudden go back to being perfectly fine sometimes it will happen again and again consecutively, but other time i could go a couple days with out it doing it. It doesnt even matter how i drive even when i take it easy it still does it and the same when i reallly beat it up. Very strange and even harder to diagnos i have tried alot of things but i have not solved the problem yet sooo i am open for new ideas if any has any or experiance the same problem.

I only have two systems. One could be an intermittent EGR circuit or similar vacuum circuit. Mine had the same kind of problem when I had a vacuum leak due to running a line through the fire wall to an intake vacuum gauge. Check all your vacuum lines.

Checking vacuum hoses? Yes you can do that just open the hood and start looking for any cracked ones.

sounds like a fuel problem to me. try changing the fuel filter, injectors may be clogged as well.

not to steal this thread or anything, my car does the same exact thing. my car jerks so hard sometimes that the back wheels squeal like i am spinning my tires. if it was a clogged injector, wouldn't it do it all the time??? the same with the fuel pump???

I had a similar problem with a Ford Explorer. It would randomly lose power, but recover after a few seconds. It turned out that one of the O2 sensors had a fracture and was responding slower than the other ones.

yeah, i have the same problems...ive had the car for over a year and haven't been able to locate the problem...although in the same month i had 2 injectors die....so possibly the other 2 are clogged or mising or something...who knows...i also get about 21 mpg too....both highway and city driving combined...

my 1994 winter beater safari does this, but it shakes violently, i cant let the idle drop below 1000rpm, but as soon as i shut it off, or if i let it die, it fires back up fine... its probably the 12+ year old wiring
