Try replacing the little box on the drivers side in the engine bay. Right next to the firewall. Should be green.

Make sure there is nothing wrong with the switch or the wiring. You can use a multimeter to check the wires at diffent places to make sure nothing is loose or broken.

be sure to check your 20amp fuse in the fuse panel next to the drivers feet.

i bet you 10 bucks that's what it is, be sure to check it with a multimeter even if it looks ok.

will any other things stop working with the 20amp gone out?my wipers stopped working. replaced the box, multi'd the motor jumped the batt straight to it (it works) so i figured it was something inside the dash. ill have to check this when my girl gets home with my car

The wiper fuse is the 5th one down in the left column of fuses in the fusebox by the driver's foot. It should be the only 20 amp fuse in the left column. (at least on my 90)

if it's only the intermitant wiper control that doesn't work (fluid, high/low speeds work), and door chime doesn't work you might also want to check the timing control unit that's down around the fuse panel. but i really doubt that's the problem. check your fuse first.

bigk - When you turn on the wipers, do you hear a noise at all? Like a tapping sound for a couple of seconds?

OK... go unbolt the (new) wiper motor, set it somewhere safe but leave it still plugged in, go inside the car and turn on the wipers, then go check to see if the arm on the back is circling.

This test will let you know if it's in the wiring or the mechanics of the wipers.
