I am thinking about having my rear wiper shaved off while i have the notorious rust holes filled in the hatch. what does any one think of that? is the rear wiper neccesary or even helpful. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I took mine out for a little while just to see how it looked and the car definately looks alot cleaner without it. As long as you have a working rear defroster you wont miss it.

I don't have one on my '96 and while I've gotten used to it, I missed it at first. My Probe had a rear wiper and when I first got into the 240 I didn't know what the hell to do without it. When it rained, I couldn't see out the back for ****, especially at night.

A generous application of RainX cured the problem, however, and now I'm fine without it.

No, I don't think they did. I've never seen one with a rear wiper, anyway. I was just sharing my rear wiper opinion/experience. :)

Oh, i know, i was just curious as to whether or not the s14's were equipped or even if the s13 coupes had em'. I doubt it as they are only really necessary on hatchbacks because of the angle of the rear glass. My mom's sh!tsubishi eclipse has neither a defroster or a rear wiper and it has horrible tint, so driving at night in the rain is hell.

The rear defroster on my 240 is nowhere near as effective as the one on my PGT was. It doesn't do much to help out in the rain, but for some reason this car likes to fog up a lot more than my Probe did, too, so I often have it on.
