It was raining yesterday -- turned on the wipers and got squeak, squeak, squeak. I had put new insets on the truck a couple of weeks ago .. so I was surprised. I folded back the blades and discovered it was coming from the drivers side arm -- nothing to od with the blades or windshield.

I'm not sure if it's the wiper arm shaft or maybe the connection pivot between the two arms. Anyone with this issue ?

The pivot looks to have a plastic grommet -- would think if this was the problem I would get some movement between the two arms -- they are tight to one another. It's a part that has to be ordered anyway. The pivot itself is sold complete.

I have never taken the arms off and opened up the cover -- Don't know what kind of a job it is.

Seems like something is loose, but can't say I've had the problem. Getting into the area shouldn't be tough...just a nut on each wiper blade and whatever hold the cowl in place.

I've had this problem before, and now it has started again.
It actually stops squeaking when it gets really wet.
Anyway, it's an easy fix.
Remove the wiper arms and the black cowl cover, and all of the mechanics are exposed.
I thought it was the linkage at first, but it was the actual pivot that the wiper arms attach to.
They rotate back and forth in a plastic sleeve/bushing. Cheap construction. It gets dry and then squeaks.
I took the pivots out, cleaned the bushing and pivot, greased it and re-assembled.
Lasted about 5 year, until now.

Thanks -- it's been raining almost everyday and the wipers are not making as much noise. Looks like I'm having the same problem -- glad it's not too difficult.

I ordered the divers side pivot a while back and with a nice day last Sunday .....figured I would install. The part was around $30 and I ordered the two other rubber caps for the passenger side connecting arm pivot. It took me about 1/2 hour to remove the wipers and cowl and another 1/2 hour to understand that the wiper pivot just snap on and off the connecting bar!

My drivers side was basically frozen. I cleaned everything up -- greased each of the arm ends ... replaced the two new cups on the passenger side and put the new drivers pivot in ... snapped it all together.

Took me about 1.5 hours
