Wiper INT problem/Poor gas mileage/possible alternator

I just notice that my windshield wiper INT does not work. Any suggestions. I've checked the fuses and all were good.

Also, I am only getting 12 mpg city on 15.7 gallons. Any suggestions.

And, I've tested to see if my alternator was bad. I put the car in gear and had to positive battery terminal taken off and the car shut off. Does this mean that the alternater is bad?

I believe that the correct "test" method (which is useless IMO) is to take the negative terminal off.....

What made you think the alternator was bad????

12mpg in city driving... doesnt sound TOO Far off.....clarify that city driving- in town driving, lots of stops, short trips (less than 10 miles), never getting above 50MPH..... If you can still get 22ish MPG on the highway, id consider that normal

I thought that it was the alternator because whenever my foot is on the brake, the battery indicator on the dash board lights up. Sometimes I can feel a difference in the way the engine feels also.

For the gas problem, I only get about 15 mgp highway. I am about to change my spark plugs. I will put in the NGK iridiums. And I will change my fuel filter.
