Hey, Well, I noticed since the swap my wipers are acting funny. For instance, when I turn them off, they stop RIGHT where they are and don't go all the way down..that's annoying.

ALso, the fuse will randomly go out, and it's a 20 amp! It tends to go out when I"m not even using them either..I'll just go to use them and it's blown.

Any ideas about the wiring on what could be wrong?

Thanks,Nick

I did, and I followed it all exactly the way Wulfgang's writeup said. Every connection was soldered and taped up and I did a good job so I wouldn't have problems, but I didn't know if anyone else had the same issue or if maybe a wire went to the wrong spot, or maybe my harness has a break somewhere from shipping..

I thought I had done something wrong too.. same thing happens to me.. my wipers work on regular speed and high but the intermiten doesn't work and I have to put them on that position or off so it can turn off and I have to wait for them to go all the way down or else they will stop where they're at. On the ka f3 plug there are wires that belong to the wipers. Did these go to the ka ecu and was this controling the timer for the intermiten signal and also was it telling the wipers to shut off on a down position? I think wulgang has a disclamer or something about the wipers on his write up. i guess I'll have to check it again and see if he gives an idea where it's suppost to go. He's done a hell of a lot for us s14 rb20 guys so far maybe he can figure this one out also.

I did not cut or reroute any of my wiper wires. I pulled them out of the KA harness and taped them into the RB harness as-is. There is no connection to the ECU that I know of, and as far as I can tell, everything, including intermittent, is controlled by the wiper amp.

But yeah... like Kamin said... you've got a short somewhere.

I just spent 4 hours tearing apart the f3 harness and the wiper wires going to it..etc. I found only one wire coming from the speed sensor that seemed somehow shorted (brown wire with silver spots).

Other than that, they all look fine. I have 3 black wires off of the wiper, wiper amp and speed sensor harness that are the same, but not hooked to anything; they are black with 2 silver spots...I'm not sure, but they seem like they should be grounded.

I checked the back of the fuse box, there's power to one side of the fuse holder, and the other side seems to be a ground or is grounded somehow. So, I have to figure out where the wiring from the fusebox(under steering area) goes to...then I should find my short. It seems to go into a wire loom under the dash and across to who knows where. There are 2 light green wires coming from it that go to somewhere I have to find. The wiring job I did seems fine, and it's weird because the wipers seemed to work last week and I don't remember changing anything since... GRRR

It's pouring rain and I can't drive my car.

This is not intended to make you mad, but I dont think its a problem with the way wulfgang has the wiring. I followed his wiring and double checked it and havent had a problem with my wipers... at least as of yet.

I guess I'm gonna check my wiring for the wipers again, cuz I basically cut all the wires from the f3 that looked like it was going towards the ka ecu. If I cant see where it goes I 'll look at my friends and see where it's hooked up at.

Hmm.. I also just basically found all the extra wires that went from the KA ECU to the F3 and cut them. I will admit I DID cover all the wires to make sure they werent too bare.

Only other small thing I did was that for a few of the extra black wires that were left (pure black) I tied those to ground.

Good luck finding out what it is, and keep us updated.

Well, after dl'ing the FSM and figuring out all the wires, I found that from the fusebox goes two wires, one to the wiper motor, one to the washer fluid pump...that caught my attention. I looked at my fluid pump (which I knew was broken) and found the terminals which are normally inside it were exposed and hitting the chassis.

I unplugged that and it was fixed. I have yet to get the intermittent wipers to work, or to get them to stop where they're supposed to, but that's something I'll fix another day.

Thanks for the help guys,Nick
