Hey,

K, heres the skinny, my driver's side wiper ceased to work. So i checked it all out, the splines on the wiper arm itself are stripped, so I went to my dealer and ordered a new wiper arm. Problem is, the new arm doesn't have any splines to mesh with the drive itself! Is this how it's supposed to be? Is this a friction fit? The dealer has no clue so they are ordering another wiper arm and drive for it to compare parts and what not....sounds kinda sketchy to me, any ideas?

Which wiper arm are you talking about? The one that the blades attach to that has a hook on one end, or the one beneath actually connected to the wiper motor?

If the top one, the arm is just a metal circle, slips over a stud and a nut holds it on. There is a white piece underneath that I think you're talking about that may have stripped out.

I am indeed talking about the top one, and I know the white metal you are talking about, however THAT part is not stripped. The inside face of the upper arm is stripped out, however on the new arm there are no splines to mesh with the white metal part, while the OLD wiper arm had these splines, so I am confused as to why the part has changed. THe numbers all check out which is the odd thing.

Hmmm.... go here and please tell me the part # that you mean on there and we can go from there, cuz I'm still a little confused as to which part would have splines on it.

#26380,

also, I am holding the part which the dealer got for me, more specifically from the table below the diagram,

Arm Assy Wiper28881 - 40F05

Thanks for your time and effort, this is an awesome resource!

the arm is not suppose to have splines and your old arm is probably ok it just came loose try tightening it down and see if it works. the splines are ground into the soft metal of the arm when the nut is tightened on it. that is the design of the arm.

Yup, Nistech's got it right on.

Remember to use that microfiche whenever you need to look up how a part comes apart. And btw.... Welcome to NICO!
