Winter wheels and tires

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have saved a set of winter wheels and tires (17") from the departed '07 G35x. Will they fit my new '08 EX35? I checked with the boys at Tire Rack and didn't get anything conclusive. Can anyone help? Do you need more info?

I dredged this out of Nissan owners manuals a while back. 07 G35 wheels should be the same as base EX35 but the tire diameter is probably different.

Appreciate your help, jmess. It seems to me that the wheels should fit just fine but the total tire diameter will be slightly smaller. It will, probably, result in minor odo/speedo discrepancy. I assume that the brake caliper size shouldn't be an issue: some EXs come on 17" wheels from the factory.

Brakes are the same on 17" and 18" wheels shod cars. A little smaller diameter won't matter. I paid $430 for a set of cheap alloys for my snows.

The best way by far to quantify this difference is to look up the tire manufacturer's "Revolutions Per Mile" figures published for the exact model and size of the tire you have, and compare to that of your OEM tires.

For example, the 18" OEM Dunlop tires I have are rated at 746 revs per mile, while my chosen winter tires are 744.

Cheers,David
