Would a set of 16" rims (Blizzak's already mounted) off a G35 work on my M35X (has stock 18") without any modifications? I read in one blog about the TPMS should only be registered to one set of rims and if I change, I'll have to visit the dealer each time I change rims to have the TPMS reset.

Need help as it's snowing and I've located the rims, but need advice before I purchase.

Thanks!

The offset of the wheel is wrong. It probably will not fit ...

However, the bore and everything else is Nissan/Infiniti standard and will work, so you could try a fitment test. But, be careful!!

I spoke to the dealer here about the pressure monitors, and they are selling a tire and rim set up without them. The warning light stays on until spring when you put the factory ones back on. Doesn't require any recalibration and there is no warning chimes.

THanks to you both.

I'm new to owning an Infiniti and after reading about wheels and offsets, it appears that safer is the right bet on a set of winter tires. My concern (valid ?) is when there is no snow, it's 75 mph down the interstate and guessing (?) incorrect offsets will possibly damage my vehicle?

Any idea on the wheels and tires your AB dealer is selling? I'd like to investigate an inexpensive set of rims with quality snow tires for winter use.

Ideas appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't think having the offset wrong is necessarily dangerous, but it will muck up the handling and put additional strain on the wheel bearings and other suspension components. So I wouldn't do it.

Supposedly there's a $100 rebate on four Michelins right now, available from CostCo and elsewhere. Also try TireRack--click on their add in the NICO Sponsors sidebar.

You spent a good amount of money buying the car. Doesn't make sense to skimp on the most critical component in keeping said car on the road. Sure, if you can find a perfect match at a great price, buy it. But I wouldn't put the wrong size on. I'd look for 17s, for one thing.

It also depends a lot on the amount of offset difference! For example, installing a 2006 M35/45 Sport wheel on a 2003/2004 M45 is almost certain to contact suspension components - even without turning the steering in the front!

BTW, I definitely agree that spending the right amount of money on the tires is absolutely the thing to do. I'd much rather stick with stock wheels and buy the best performing tire I could get - that greatly increases the handling/braking/etc. (wet or dry) of any car! The "look" of the stock 18" and 19" rims is way good enough that I see it as a event when I see people spend thousands of dollars on "better-looking" rims. But, to each their own, I suppose!

75 mph for very long avove 32° F will make short life for any good snow tire.
