I'm looking at winter tires since I live up here in Minnesota where we have cold winters and a lot of snow. I've been looking at a few different sets of tires for winter tires and here's what I've found so far? What do you guys recommend? Also will that 225/55/16 size work for the rears? :gotme

I would suggest running the stock size that nissan used. I believe its 225/55/16 and 245/55/16 at the rear.

In my experience Nokian winter tires are the best around. (Canadian winters)

Ok that makes sense. I think I'm gonna go up in diameter on the rears to 245/50/16 just because I can't seem to find winter tires for the original size.

The narrower the better!

I personally would find a set of either stock NA wheels (can be had for $200/set easy) or another cheap set of 16x7.5 (should be incredibly easy, it's a very common size with a 5x114.3 bolt pattern) and throw a set of Bridgestone Blizzak WS70's in a 215/60/16. They have almost exactly the same diameter as your stock sizes so your speedo won't be off, and they're the newest model of what is probably the best studless snow tire around. Plus, they're dirt cheap.

The only reason I suggest staying close to the TT rear's is because well, how are you going to put down TT power with 215's? The narrower tires do cut through deep snow better I agree.

Thanks Robo appreciate it, I was thinking about narrowing the tires after reading tirerack's winter tire reviews. 215/55/16? or 215/60/16?

In the snow you should be worried about the tire touching the actual road, not being able to put down power.

So 215's because they're narrower? Cut thru the snow better?

That's what I would do.

Do you have a second set of wheels or are you gonna be swapping out tires every season?

It seems like every year around November I'm always swapping out my old All-seasons for winter tires or different all-seasons. I have 225/50/16 on the front and I'm thinking about putting that on the rear as well? Should I do same size tires all around or should I go a little smaller like the 215's? I found a really good price on the Continental Extremecontact DWS tires 225/50/16 on Tirerack. $217 with shipping included. What do you guys think?
