Winter tire options

I live in northern Vermont, where we get quite a bit of snow. I'm wondering what type of winter tires to put on my Versa. I've always managed to get by with all season radials, but I'm tired of white-knuckle driving.

What do folks think? Should I go with studded tires or should I just get regular winter tires? A friend suggested studded retreads, and swore that they would be just fine. From what I've read, retreads may not be as great as he says.

I'm look for something fairly affordable.

I been thinking of winter tires also, i live in jersey and we get some good amounts of snow at times too.

I wouldn't go with retreaded snow tires do to the fact that if you get to much heat through the tires they have a tendency of delaminating.

I would go with new snow tire's from Tire Rack they have the best deals on tires. They will also help you in finding the best tires for your Versa.

Some studless traction tires are as good as studded traction tires on snow and ice, and basically all studless tractions are better on plain wet pavement than studs.

If you get a better quality studless traction, you will really be in good shape, no matter what the weather. Look for Yokohama Guardex, Bridgestone Blizzak, or Toyo Observe models.
